Again, awesome on the work with kids. That's great. Does this mean the high puppy prices are being put toward funding this charity work and the donation (this what I assume you mean by "placing") of pups to therapy and assistance? Is so, I guess I can understand that, does that mean a purchased puppy is tax deductible, like when someone gets a puppy from a charity auction? Do you have an average sell/donate ratio for your litters?
Sunsilver, great questions. The GSDs inherent protectiveness can sometimes make them inappropriate for certain types of service work. Service GSDs in our society today must be verrrrrry mellow which can conflict with the original standard for temperament and workability. Now in a litter you may have one or two lower drive pups in a litter of medium drive puppies that could be suitable for such work. To specifically breed out the drives for that purpose I feel does a disservice to the breed.
What are some of the current films/TV appearances? I'd be interested in seeing them move around, work, etc.

Rin Tin Tin was one of two pups acquired during World War I, 1918, in France by a Corp. L. Duncan. After the war one pup died and the one survived was Rin Tin Tin.

This is the RIN TIN TIN I was referring to. www.google.com/imgres
Quite a good looking dog compared to his relatives today.

I think that may be a picture of Rin Tin Tin Jr.

by SportySchGuy on 04 February 2011 - 18:02
My research indicates that the original was alive from 1918-1932. The pic is dated 1925. The vehicles in the pic would support that claim I think. If that info is correct then that "should" be the original.

BTW I did read where the original was called Rinty. I can't say for sure 100% as I was not alive then and did not know all parties involved.

The original Rin Tin Tin and Rin Tin Tin Jr. are probably the darkest of all of them. Both nice looking dogs.
