I'm sorry you're clueless.  Let me explain something to you, For every breeder that you can come up with that strictly raises/trains their dogs for police K9, I'll come up with 10 that start and sell them to some sport trainer here or abroad.  Remember police departments are governed by the budgets of their local villages/cities.  These politicians want 3 bids for every expenditure that they make.  Accepting the bid of the lowest bidder is more common than finding the most experienced dog provider.  Most K9s will fall in the range of $8,000-$12,000, depending on the foundation training and length of class.  How much do you think these broker/trainers are paying for their sale-able product?  To keep expenses low and profits high, their ceiling is probably $4,000.  Now compare that to the quality of dog that a sport enthusiast will look for and you just learned something.  Very few breeders want their dogs to end up in police homes as it won't bring them as many puppy/dog clients in the future.  It is not uncommon for sport folk to pay up to $25,000 for talented prospects.  Show me the department that will spend that amount of money for a dog.  Now you have a clue and I didn't even charge you.

Here in Texas you can get dogs for 2500 to 4000. You must be on the east coast or somewhere fancy like that.

Point me towards some of these 8 to 12,000 depts you are talking about would you ?

I don't have to think about these things, as I broker, import, and train police dogs. Thanks for your education!!

And you have competed at the French Ring Championships?  How about the UScA or WDA SchHIII Championships?

Here you go Jeff, here's one right off the top of my head, call him, ask him what he charges for a finished dual purpose dog with a handler's course.  Then tell him you have a dog to sell him and find out how much he'll give you for it.  http://www.vohneliche.com/joomla/

Jeff -- i have to commend you on having a GSD FR3 !![ sincerely ..not sarcasm !!]-- when FR was prominent in this area the judges flew over with their GSDs .. Most people that i have encountered do the Sch bit .. no offense my whole background as a rookie was Sch .. some of my best acquaitances are SV protection judges as well as show .. BUTthe vast majority of  people in this country {USA } do not have a clue what is takes for a canine to make Brevet [ the intro level ], let alone Ring 1,2 or 3.   Many  are to locked into Sch .... few malinois even make it past Ring 2 as great as some declare the breed to be [ and they have their meits too , i had some]... . this you most likely know jefff : . belgium ring  and mondio are now popularin my area ..  . So again .. hats off to you for being in the sport and having Ring 3 canine !!.            ps . my friends had bouviers and did fr too .. all that you nened is a good dog .. why make an issue about which breed  folks ..just  enjoy your dogs ..  ? ??

I bought the dog, so it is him, not me that is all that. : )

THe decoy in the vid is Skhra he is in the French foreign legion. He did everything he could to block that dog from biting. Ulko got him anyway. I hear he is a tough decoy.

These are dogs worth looking into. Sch is now about a look, and ring is about points. You are going up against people that can move well in a suit, and are all about taking your dogs points. It is entirely different in Mondio, where you are up against whatever they can think up. Ring is way harder on a dog than Sch, and I like that about the sport. It proves to me the dog can hold up physically and mentally.

I'm lost in the point you're attempting to make with Vohne Liche Kennels? The website tells the price of the dogs and the cost ot their courses. You don't have to call Ken. And why would he buy a dog from you when he already has him importers?

Sometimes I think you like to try and get a rise out of people on purpose? Is that how you train dogs?

Are you following the tour group?  I was asked to provide the name of a police K9 dealer who charged $8,000 - $12,000 for a dual purpose dog, I simply replied with one off the top of my head.  Ken will buy basically anything that chases a ball.  He sends his guys to Holland to load up planes with anything that he can find.  He pays next to nothing, flies them home, throws a couple of weeks of training on them and out the door they go.  He's not buying top sport dogs and paying the money, he's paying minimal for dogs that couldn't make it.  It doesn't matter if they bite full, it doesn't matter if they search every footprint, it doesn't matter if they want to retrieve or chew the dumbbell, it's chase a ball,,,,,,,kinda, and your in.
