Your male should be able to "do the deed". Older dogs can continue to stand at stud, but the fertility problem arises when you use them often. If you manage his calendar, he should continue being productive for one or two more years. However, if you feel he's not, you can find a close relative to hire to impregnate your female.
As to "the dilema", it would help to know if the parents of your females are producers of HD dogs. You may be fretting over nothing if your dogs come from lines that don't produce HD and then it becomes a matter of the formality of getting the hips & elbows done. Anna may just not have liked to have her leg toyed with by the vet.

Thanks charlie319,
I hear you on both points. Anas' papers are in Czech, I see all "a" raings except one, "b", going back 2 generations. There seems to be no ratings for the 3rd and 4th generations.
Bella is a different line and her pedigree is listed in the database, "Bella Vom Hayes Haus". My male, Reiker, is also listed in the database, "Reiker Vom Young McDaniel" I studded him once and the bitch had 16 pups.
Thanks again.
