It could prove helpful if you'd at the very least tell us what *country* you're in--someone on this board might well be able to help you with this, but without knowing what part of the world you're in it's impossible for anyone to know if they can be of direct help.

If you have an agreement to give him the puppies I'd say it wasn't stealing. Where do you live, what paperwork do you have on the deal that you did with him. Best Chris

Hi, I was just wantted to let you guys know what has happend. I talked to a friend who called the person for me. He said that if he does not give them back we will fial a complaint with the police. I have a paper signed by both him and me that stated that the breeding agreement is one pup and the date for the pup to be given to him is on the 29 of september. I live in Romania The guys name is David Calin. Be careful about this person!!!!! Jessica Ginter

File the complaint, these pups may not survive being away from mother for that long.

Proud Shep, Good POINT !!! File the complaint cause if these pups die it will be a direct result of his interfearance ! The complaint on file will be admissable and will be the winner in any court battle over this issue. Best of Luck hope you get them soon!!!

YES, THIS IS STEALING. DID YOU CALL THE POLICE ASAP WHEN THIS HAPPENED ? I WOULD DEFINITLY GO THERE AND TAKE THE PUPPIES BACK. EITHER PAY HIM MONEY INSTEAD OF GIVING HIM THE PUPPIES AND TELL HIM ID SEE HIM IN COURT ! THESE GUYS DO NOT DESERVE PUPPIES AT ALL !! ANY REPUTABLE BREEDER KNOWS NOT TO LET PUPS GO TILL AT LEAST 7 WEEKS OLD.

Yikes! I don't think I would have allowed this guy anywhere near me after all the trouble he caused before, but then again it sounded like everything had been resolved. Sorry to hear about that. Must have been very upsetting. At 4 weeks the pups can survive just fine if looked after properly, though they still need important imprinting from mom and socalizing and they are vulnerable to infectious diseases. But they are not going to just die because they have been separated from mom! No need to throw more reasons for worry out there if that is just not the case. If they were healthy and strong when they left, they will probably be ok. He wants these pups so he is not deliberately going to risk loosing them. This fellow is certainly in breach of contract, but the police in your area will probably just smirk about such matters. I would still report it. Even if it ends up just being on record. Sounds like those may be piling up with this guy if he keeps that up. If he is a registered breeder within an FCI Organization I would file a full complaint with your Kennel Club and also the Breed Club, if a breed club looks after registration matters for your breed. FCI regulations usually do not allow pups to leave the breeder that early. He should know that. At 4 weeks they would also not be tattooed yet. That is usually done around 7 weeks, and pups are not allowed to leave the breeder without tattoo either. Both issues enough reason to get him into trouble with Breed or Kennel Club. He could be facing fines and/or a breeding ban/expulsion from the club. Do you have a local breed warden? Contact him. Maybe he can mediate and get the pups back. If he sells them with false papers, suggest that to the Breed/Kennel Club as well and that all dogs form his kennel should be DNA'd. Hope this will be resolved quickly. Good luck.

Guys I think you are all jumping to conclusions here. It MAY not be stealing !! What if the guy has a wet nurse ready and would say that he took the puppies as they were not being well cared for. I'm not saying that this is the case but it might be. If he has a contract that says the puppies are his he can take them. I would suggest that before people go charging in saying it is theft and she will win in court they should think these things through. Some of you are sounding like experts and encouraging someone to do something that may see them in more trouble than they are in now.

by ProudShepherdPoppa on 31 August 2006 - 21:08

You are right DH but the operative words here are "if looked after properly" Do you really think this jerk is going to take the time and energy to properly care for 2 four week old puppies?

by J_F_U on 31 August 2006 - 21:08

The gooner. There was a litter of 2 the mother was a first time mother and was doing a supper job. They just started eatting food about a week ago. The male was in very good condition he was big the female was not eatting solid food that well. The contract stated that he would get the pups on the 29 of sept and that he would be getting one!!!! I said that he could have the other one. He came to my house to "TAKE PICTURES" instead without my consent he letf with the pups. I said I was giving him both WAS IT THAT HARD FOR HIM TO WAIT????? What do you thing??? AS of yet he still hasn't called me so tomorrow morning I am filing a complaint. Oh an DH I know they could survive away from their mother but he still had no right to take them without me saying yes!! And I feel they could learn a lot from their mother to. Pluse all my dogs are socilaized where as his grow up in kennels!! Jessica Ginter
