I just heard NJ is going to fly flags at half mast in honor of Whitney.
Sorry you feel that way, ggturner, because protesting that someone else's death is more significant or deserving of grief than another's, reminds me of those Westboro Baptist fanatics. Think about it.

I agree with ggturner; she was a bad example, not a hero.
On a lighter note...
Q: What's 6 inches long and didn't get sucked on Valentine's Day?
A: Whitney Houston's crack pipe.

"I agree with ggturner; she was a bad example, not a hero."
That is exactly how I feel.

I don't think that is the point at all. Why must everyone be a hero to be remembered? Why can't she be remembered for her talent? She didn't smoke crack, either, she made a point to tell Barbara Walters that was a cheap drug, and she was way too rich for that.
Anyway, too bad you guys don't get it. You make it sound like artists have no value.

None of you knew her personally, you don't even know the cause of death, and you sure as hell don't seem to have an understanding of the media.
The media gives you what you want, you design it so blame yourselves.
I'm sure no one in the family or her friends gives a rats ass what you think or feel about it.
Moons.

Bee,
I think she was a great talent.
I just don't think she was a good example.

Ninja, while it is true her addictions did not make her a good example, I don't see how it matters when one is considering a newsworthy death.
And just because a soldier wears a uniform when he dies, that is no quarantee of a being "a good example", either. And that is why I say comparing the two is ridiculous. And petty.

Is this a debate on whose life is worth more? Who are we to judge?

by Carlin on 15 February 2012 - 23:02
Actually, it seems to be an indictment on the public; you an I. We want to here about W.H. in life and death, because we place far more value on fame and fortune than far more important qualities. She was a totally self concentric, self indulgent, disaster of a human being. If her music provided some kind of emotional vehicle for the public, it wasn't free, and I would question the real benefit. This isn't crap on Whitney time, it's not her fault, but it is pretty disgusting that we place so much value on so little substance.

"Who are we to judge?"
Well I could give you an answer but it would probably go over like a lead balloon.
So, instead I will say RIP Whitney.
