If it's end stage kidney failure, I would rethink that menu. How long have you known about the kidneys? What have you changed in the diet? What you stated sounds like too much bone to me. I have one who should've been dead over a year ago. His numbers were so high they had to be sent to a special lab because the regular lab couldn't read them.

I've used vit. K but not as a shot, it was in tablet form and it was an antedote for rodent poison.  After puppy-proofing my rental, my landlord put rat poison under the riding mower in a shed so that rodents would go in the mower over the winter and chew the wires.  As tenants, we were responsible for lawn maintenance for a chip off our rent.  So one night we had the shed open and were raking leaves and I saw my puppy go in there.  I ran over and found he had something bright blue in his mouth.  Didn't know what it was but to me something that color = not natural = poison so I immediately induced vomiting and got it all out.  I called my vet and the e-vet and both told me he would be fine if he was no longer vomiting blue and I could give vitamin K for a month to be safe.  I was panicking but they both said I didn't even need to bring him in.  They said the body would expel whatever vit K it didn't need, so I didn't have to worry about OD-ing vit K if there wasn't any poison in his system.  The way I understood it was that the poison would eventually make the dog's blood thin and unable to clotting, and the vit K is some kind of clotting agent.  He loved taking that tablet!

Best of luck with the ailing dog.

No problem. I can't find the PM from Jackie; I will ask her. I really wish I could remember what the stuff was called.
