I know from past litters that I had....I couldn't  post a set price...As each pup was different.  There were Show quality, working quality, and good pets.  But until I have spent some time with the litter....I don't have one set price.  And I can assure you that my PIC pup is going to be priced differently then my "PET" pup.  That does not mean the litter isn't a well bred one.  It just means that until the pups are old enough to be evaluated (every one has their own way of doing this) I don't have a set price.  I might be willing to make a deal at the time for some one that is dissabled or to someone that is in Search and Rescue  or to a Show home.  Again, not all pups are equal and so prices would vary.  I would try and put things in the add like....All of them make good pets....wether they are a show dog or a family dog or a Police dog.  They first and formost will be a good pet.  Then....what can that Pet do....Show?  Brood Bitch?  Sch work?  The jobs are endless and the pups have to be evaluated to even know what they are best suited for.  So I never put a set price.....not that I wanted to Gouge anyone....I was more likely to take less if a pup went to a desired home then to hold out for more money and ssell to someone I didn't like.  The choice is mine.  And I don't put a price because they are not all the same....and your add starts looking like a slot machine with different prices....it just looks tacky.  Call me....I am easy to talk to and I will tell you right up front.  What are you looking for....and then give you my best quote for that kind of dog.  I also have references...so people could ask them questions as well...even compare notes.   So it is not as simple as it might seem....to just put a set price up.

Yes I understand pup to pup price.  I am more talking about grown young adult / adult dogs.  When you have 1 dog available and I am interested in that one I want the price on it.   I breed so I know that price on litters varies but for an adult dog there should be a price listed in my opinion.

I think people are intimidated in putting up prices of their adult dog. If you don't ask enough money...."whats wrong with him" and if you ask to much "he is not worth it" syndrom makes people not want to set a public price, but rather feel people out. I also think breeder's don't want to make their prices public in front of each other. Its the competition mentality. There is also the privacy issue. I have a GSD that I paid quite a bit of money for. I am very proud of her. Do I want what I paid for her made public...hummmmmmmm I don't know, but probably not. Because that is my business and in the end I am the one who put out the money....I might not want that advertised. I do agree it makes it harder when you are hunting for a dog that is in your price range. But a lot of hard work goes into buying the right dog any way. IMO people do not post the prices as a "strategy for sale" (your getting the deal) And for some sense of control of the sale. And so they can keep up with the Jone's...make sure their pups sell, and no one knows they paid the buyer to take the dog home with them!! lol Breeder's don't much like getting naked in front of each other. Privacy is the tool of choice!!

Well, I have an ad on here right now without a price, for a titled female.  I didn't include a price for a number of reasons.  First, I'm not interested in people who are just price shopping to find the cheapest brood bitch they can.  Second I figure if someone can't take the time to email me with questions, I'm not interested in selling my girl to them.  And if the only question they have for me is "how much", then once again, I'm not interested in selling her to them.  She's not going to the highest bidder, or the first person who shows up with $$ in hand.

I've listed prices other times, and that has sometimes worked, and other times backfired.  I have a male for sale on here right now who I did list a price for, and now I'm dealing with bargain hunters who seem to think they are going to get an exceptional working prospect for just a few hundered dollars.

In addition though to what I've mentioned above, the price may vary based on the home.  No, I'm not looking to get maximum dollar and raising the price for certain people, the exact opposite, I may lower the price for the right person.

And finally, IMO it's really between me and the buyer what they paid for a dog.  I'm asking what I consider to be a fair price, but it's really nobody else's business what they paid.

Annoyed?

Someone post a request to buy a dog that has to perform “Everything , or a “Stud” that can do “Everything”

You answer them politely, you answer every question, tell them your location Country, prices etc.

And then they call you a Thief or a Crook for asking the amount!!!!!

Okay…you asked, we answered, and we can deliver. If you are not happy with the price then why????

Why can you just not say…no thanks, or just say nothing.

What gives you the right to be rude to anyone, let alone someone who has fully answered a question(s) you asked?

Would you talk to people face to face the way you do to them on the Internet? NO

Respect! Simple Respect…..I guess that is lost in today’s world.

I do not advertise here.

My dogs are all one set price, but I wouldn't put a price in the ad anyway cause I offer discount prices to military, police, firemen, and repeat customers.

I have found throughout the years that when someone calls and the first question out of their mouth is "How much are your pups?" that they care nothing about the dogs pedigree, temperaments or what you are doing with your dogs, that tells me that if they get one of my pups, I'm going to have to worry that my pup won't get the proper vet care or training needed, so they are better off going to a shelter and rescuing a dog.

Some people ask to be put on my list after I have talked to them and described all about my dogs, and they forget to mention price, but of course I make sure to let them know.

My pups are reasonably priced, not under or over, so my price doesn't usually doesn't surprise them.

When I have one adult for sale I will put the price of them on my web-site, cause they are older and I know their potential and the pros and cons of owning the dog depending on who owned him last, and if he needs more training.

And what if you put a $20,000 price on a dog and you don't like the person inquiring.  you have no where to go.  They already know the price so you cant raise it to get rid of them...

It is the adds that say don't waste out time and serious only.  I will pay good money for a good dog but if the seller doesn't want the price listed along with other important info I just don't like to deal with that seller because it sounds as if they they are only concerned with the dollar amount.  If they say e-mail with questions or for price I have no problem with that.  I will send a whole list of questions but it sounds very much like the dog is not first in their minds when they say things of the don't waste our time nature.  I'm not doing that I just want more info on the dog so that I can weigh everything that I learn against the other dogs that I am considering and then make an informed decision.  Yes I am a serious buyer even though I might not pick that dog.  I still am interested ans will weigh the options.
