I also got to watch him do bitework at about 10 years old at our club one time--he was fit and sound and strong that day as quite a mature fellow.
I'd be happy to see him in a pedigree, personally.

There are people who say that Lord was a weak dog because a few of the offspring were weak. I think as a percentage, they are barely a blip.
Some people think that a dog who isn't sharp and reactive and hyperactive (as in ADD or ADHD) is weak.
Lord and his beautiful son Alk, were Great Dogs, Real Dogs.
It is just like with humans, I prefer the strong silent type who can handle trouble very efficently when needed.
I wish Pharaoh were more like that. He has a lot of "sport dog" in him in addition to knucklehead.

For those interested, here is a video of Lord working.
My dogs have Alk a few generations back; strong, clear headed dogs. Very responsive to their handlers, intelligent, good work ethic, strong dogs. I haven't had the time or money to do all I could have with these dogs, but they would be up for anything put before them. Very nice dogs!

I guess I left that to open with my original question. Was Alk a stong stud dog that stamped himself in the 3rd, 4th ,and 5th gernerations. From what I see, unless he was bred to a strong bitch with stellar back ground, he did not produce well.I think any dog who produces his own traits 3, 4, 5 generations down is a dog who produces himself 1 and 2 generations down--and these progeny with these traits are recognized and selected and bred well to strong mates. No stud dog will have a significant influence if his best children are not recognized for those traits and also bred to maintain that.
Obviously Alk's father was considered to be a very good dog to have in working lines--he's a commonly found name. So, when you see something 3 or 4 generations down--are you seeing Alk or are you seeing Lord?
Although, it can certainly be said that Yoschy's contributions were slightly different from his grandfather Fero's. So, Yoschy is Fero+Troll+ his motherline--and it does have a somewhat different "flavor" from another bloodline going back to Fero.

No one has to take offense because no one is questioning Alk himself. It was the brood bitch that made for very nice pedigrees in Alk's case though.
