Jello- mix? EW!
How about some organic raw green veggies - cleanest, easy to digest calcium you can get!
There is also plain yogurt or raw meat incl. ground bones that provide calcium....
I would never tape ears, but  I would not get a heavy boned SL dog either...yes, you can do more harm with taping. Tape can prevent ears from growing naturally and can cause ear infections.

All my pups' ears are up at 4 weeks; most never go down, but for the most part, most of my buyers feed the same way, which has a lot to do with it. Often, teething will knock them down but if you give them RMBs they will typically stay up. They may flop toward the middle in a triangle, but they won't go down.

So, the answer to your question is...no, it probably doesn't mean a thing;-)

YR I wasn't trying to argue because you're right about how many pups you have whelped and raised.  In 25 yrs in the breed I have only bred 5 litters so I am very much a newbie at some things.  Just was sharing my experiences.  Thanks for sharing the puppy pics--wish I had known you back in the day when you had all those great dogs..........................

So, if I have to tape at what age should I tape ? You think "teething" has something to do with the ears ?

Teething has everything to do with ears.

inc how bad is your pups one ear?  Is it folded or tent like?  IMO teething does not have everything to do with the ears.

Sometimes the ear leather is too big and heavy and does need help, more so in showlines it seems.  I know YRs pups ears came up, but others have had to tape them.

Hopefully someone will chime in that has had too.  I've never had to tape my pups ears.  All have been standing firm before 4 months.

T&Ttails
Can you show a pic of the pup since it's grown?  Has she grown into her ears?  Both my GSD's had big ears as pups but have grown into them.   I have pics out there on other threads of them but here they are to show ears.

That's Nina @ 4 months.
And then Nina at 2years old..

i have noticed that the ears get more solid on the smaller ones first. some of the larger ones will stay soft sometimes as long as 5 or 6 months .i  had a pup that went up at around 4 months droppped one a little later and i thought she would never raise the other but did just shy of 6 months old .she had huge ears. she grew to a 90 lb. girl.  for the most part about 1/3 will raise at 4 weeks or earlier. others it takes a while

Sorry to hijack this thread but I was looking at the pic and thought that he looks alot like the early GSD's.  And he's not done filling out yet.  I know he's a bit long legged but was wondering what others thought?  If you compare his structure with some of the early generation GSD's what do you think?  This dog can go all day long!
