Sunsilver

They have a huge factory type building with two large training areas, complete with non-slip floors. Of course, it's heated, and I was quite comfy though some of the others found it chilly. They also have an outdoor play area for their doggy daycare.

The owner started with Kohler, but found it didn't work for soft dogs. She is now strictly positive training, using a clicker, or other marker. This class, however, allows you to use whatever method you prefer, as most of the people are experienced trainers and/or breeders.

They're good people!

You sissies! Back when I was growing up, we had to walk to school barefoot, uphill in 5' of snow. Both ways! Al Gore was fricken wrong! But I am glad he invented the "internets" to allow me a venue to complain about it.

sheesh sunsilver your making me feel bad for complaining about NY winters.
I'M FREEZING MY BEHIND OFF.

I definitely miss Texas in the winter time, as I am not built for the cold at all my body looses heat entirely too fast.   Not only that  but New York  attitude seems to triple in the cold.

You can only imagine what road rage is like  right now

Yikes Sunsilver, that is some deep snow!

So far I am really happy with the climate at my new house.  There was a short stretch of mid 20's F in the middle of the night but it went back to the 40's F overnight.  During the day it is in the mid 50's F or warmer.
Rumor has it that there might be some negligible snow on the ridges.  I have seen a couple of patches of snow on the mountains.

Having lived 37 years in the San Francisco Bay Area,  moving a bit north and higher altitude was a little scary.  I still have my heavy wool silk lined coat, bunny lined leather gloves in the pockets and a brimmed wool hat with a scarf tie.  I wore it to walk Pharaoh when it was freezing and I was glad I still have it.  I bought it in the late 70's for visiting New Jersey in the winter.  Why do my nieces and nephews choose weddings in the dead of winter?

Wimp, wimp, wimp, sissy.........once you leave the cold climates it is so hard to go back.

Pharaoh has never been in the snow.

Maybe we ought to take a run up Hwy 20 and let Pharoah see snow?

We had over two feet of snow in less than a week, but nothing like what some folks up in Canada and back east have had to deal with.  I remember December 1, 2008...We had over two feet of snow fall overnight.  That year, down here in the valleys (2,300 feet altitude), we had over eleven feet of total snowfall, not including the several inches of rain that fell...Roofs collapsed on apartment buildings and parking structures, grocery stores, local health clubs...

The roof of a health club collapsed over the swimming pool, while there were people in it.  A Rosauers grocery store in Spokane Washington started to go in, during a normal busy day.  Parking carports in front of dozens of apartment buildings collapsed, damaging the cars parked under them.  Our local Walmart had structural damage caused from snow load, and they actually brought in ATV mounted snowblowers and cranes, and  took them up on the roofs to blow snow off them.  Thousands of homes were damaged from snow on roofs, and most homes had to have their roofs shoveled off to prevent collapse.  The Idaho National Guard was called up to come and shovel the FLAT roof of the new high school, as it was about ready to cave in, along with municipal buildings in the area.  In addition, in 2008, I think they replaced most of the water lines in that same school because some genius decided to save money by shutting off the heat over Christmas vacation, and all the water lines froze and split.

This year is shaping up to be a heavier snow year than last, but not as bad as the two years preceding it.  Some places are being hard hit, including Florida, experiencing some seriously cold weather.  What will happen, will happen, I guess.

The one redeeming quality is that dogs love snow!

Just watched the news a bit ago...We have a winter storm warning in effect for Saturday into Sunday...Eight to twelve inches of new snow before turning into rain again on Sunday afternoon...

Going to make for a very sloppy mess.
