Well dogs get bred here with out titles, with out training, why would it be different anyhwere else?  Even brokers, vendors, breeders here breed from untitled and untested stock.

Vickie,
That's not what I was referring too.  Accidental breedings can happen with any breeder.  I was talking about planned breedings to untitled, untested dogs.  Dogs that will never be titled, because they are not capable by breeders who knock the American lines for doimg the same exact thing.

But what about puppies produced by people who use their dogs for work that don't take the time to register them? Police dogs or protection dogs maybe? Or just someone who has dogs from decent lines over there who just didnt tittle them and an exprienced trainer could pick out a good dog from a backyard breeding. All I'm saying is that it would allow people looking for pets to get european line dogs as pet for maybe $1000 landed. Is that possible?

Nitro,
95 percent of people who "breed" GSDs that don´t have the pedigree know nothing about breeding and what a GSD should be like - character, working abilities, health tests. Some of them have puppies just because they have a GSD female and they just want to have puppies because "puppies are so sweet" or a lot of people believe the myth that every dog female should have one litter in her life. Then there is also the problem with puppy mills but most of the time it is other breeds who are just "multiplied" in puppy mills - JRTs,French and English bulldogs, mops and other small breeds. These pups are bought by puppy dealers and transported and sold to other European countries - usually to Italy,Spain,Belgium.I HATE IT!!!And the worst is that government does nothing to stop it.It has a lot of consequences - dogs ending in rescue shelters, idiots owning a dog which they probably wouldn´t have owned if they had to pay much more for him/her.We often have calls from potential buyers and if I tell them I want 300 € for a puppy they are suprised cause they expected it to cost 50 €.Come on - the dog I keep for breeding must pass all the SUCHNO requirements,I spend lots of time training the dog for trial, show, breed survey test plus the dog must meet my criteria. And I have pretty strict criteria.Out of 4 dogs that we were thinking about keeping for future breeding within last year none meets them and these dogs are not crap - we kept 1 female and 2 males from Eick von der Berger Hochburg and our Hessy Stastena and 1 male from Eick and our Chyla z Esagilu. The female as a puppy had top drives but as she started to change the teeth she suddenly changed - she had just medium drives and was not that tough as I wanted her to be. So I gave her to a friend of mine who just had to put his old dog to sleep. The other two males from Hessy have crazy drives but they are rather on a smaller size plus one of them broke his tooth. He would make a very good dual K9 but with a broken tooth his protection work career is gone.He bites tug great but we don´t have him bite the sleeve as it would be painful for him.So he will be offered as a narcotics canditate. His brother bites well and has a crazy drive for the ball,he has very good civil drive, some people would be happy with him however,he is still not to my taste. The male from Eick and Chyla is totally crazy for the ball,he has great nose,he bites the sleeve with a nice, full grip but he has no civil drive. If somebody threw a ball for him,he would go for the ball and forget about protection.Again, a good candidate for narcotics work but not a dog for me.The dog I want for breeding must be at least as good as his mother!
Back to the topic - only about 5 percent of the breeders who breed unregistered litters are the people who know what they are doing, they are people who train GSDs and sell them as police work candidates after the dogs are health tested and worked, the parents of the pups are health checked, they are worked, they are high quality dogs - papered or unpapered but still those ones who are not papered come from top working lines.
Do not support the European puppy mills, please!
Marcela
