I think they can be compared, as the GSD and the rott have a similar incidence of HD. Rotts are actually a bit higher. A DI of 80 is extremely high for a rottweiler. More so than 40 is for a GSD. According to Penn Hip, a DI in the 80's would suggest that the dog would have a very high likelyhood of developing HD.
This is why the orthopedic specialist recommended a TPO at the time. I opted out as there was no djd yet. All I'm saying is that Penn Hip offers a prediction. I wouldn't get worked up about it, he's still a baby.
