Excellent point, Louise, one I hesitated to bring up. It needed to be said.

seems to me they value the the red and black fur of our dogs for the fur trade from what I have heard. please dont sell them gsds!! any dog for that matter but think about it we love the gorgeous coloring of out showing well others do too just not on the dog! I am not saying they will use the studs, at least I would hope not, but they would breed them to others to get the color and that is just as wrong.

Blitzen
You hit the nail on its head.
Banning the importation will not solve the problem. The illegal traders will still find ways to go around it. We need to solve the root cause, i.e the people buying it.
Banning the sales of fur will not only solve the cruelty to animals in China and other third world countries, it will also solve the cruelty to animals in America too.

I am so sick. My present from my beloved Mom was a lovely coat that had animal lining. I asked her from what it was and she said "Karnikel" which is "Rabbit" in German. I have torn this coat today apart to find the only evidence of it coming from live animals to be "echte Pelz". From the backside of this very sporty parker type coat, I guess there are at least 18 cat lives that have laid their souls to rest. Yes, I can see even the seams from the shoulder to the chest to create a perfect seam.
I own one.
I am horrified.

you never would have bought it knowing or had it knowing, I know it doesnt take away the hurt and shock and I dont know of anything that would. I am so sorry you have been affected by this. You are a gentle and kind animal person.

Dear Sunshine,
Newbie is right. Had you known, you never would have that coat and your mother would never have purchased it for you had she known. I think I may have a similar garment purchased before I was aware of the fur trade horrors. It's what we do now that we know that counts.
