Uber Land

I  am a breeder, have been for almost 2 decades now, and am a 3rd gen breeder at that.  I dnt know everything, and am not a world competitor like that dogs breeder.  but I will be the first to say, that head is NOT CORRECT, and with that rear end, I doubt he could do more than 15 minutes of herding if that, let alone clear a 6ft wall.

Maybe this is the same dog someone asked about a few months back, had the same distorted head.  some people might see that as strong and masculine, but I see it as ugly and incorrect.  Doesn't matter if it was bred by a world competitor or a BYB.

if thats what I have to breed to win and gain other people's approval, bring home ribbons, ect.  I'll stop breeding.

another point I would like to make, isn't the "expression" of the gsd important? just as important as the red and black pigment, the layback of th shoulder? a gsd should not look like a rottie.

as for the kennel, one of my fav males is Don di casa Nobili (sp?). is Geck the dog Don is? Not in my opinion.  I sure hope he produces better heads than what he has.

I opened it in photoshop and the detail is jagged so I agree with the mod.
(annoyng blotchy squares of pixels usually caused by reduction)

It probably would have been better if photoshop was used to reduce the image size - then post to the site.

Just my opinion on the picture - not the dog.

I also wondered why the mods don't post replies instead of editing. (when editing is not needed)
It would seem to be easy to register the name moderator 1 etc...

ok, for fairness, another picture of Geck, again, a very short muzzle, the forehead is not as steep in this picture, but again, not my cup of tea. and again, the same exaggerated rear. another dog in Geck's pedigree: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/391793.html

this is becoming the norm with german showlines.  its quite sad indeed that this is what breeders have done to these beautiful dogs.

Uber,

I also like dogs that conform to the stantard.

Jdiaz you said "just get on this board and critize without having a clue."

Google Geck's name, and you'll get a bunch of different images, Uberland.  There are some that don't show his stop as being quite as defined, but it is still very much the same dog, same head.

No, I am not a breeder, but I have loved the GSD since the early 1990's.  I have seen all sorts of dogs, from all sorts of breeders.  I've seen some that were just plain ugly, some that were ok, and some that took my breath away.  Geck does not rate in the last category.  That head...When I first saw his picture in an ad over a year ago, I had to do a double take because that head just grabbed me.

Anyway, no, I'm not letting the comment above get to me, Nona and Mobjack...The bottom line is that comparing Annie Oakley and Geck is like comparing apples to monkeys.  There is no comparison.  One is a stud, the other is a pet.  Neither is up to the standard, but for Oakley it does not matter.  I'm not showing her, not breeding her.

I just looked at the link for Geck's granddam, Chipsy...I see where his stellar head came from.  And he passes it on, too.

If that is your cup of tea, that's fine.  I am traumatized now that I've seen that picture of Chipsy...

guess my last post didn't go thru....

Oakley will always be a beauty in my eyes! and you Crys are an angel for taking her into your home.  I remember how many people said she should be put down, me and several others protested, and I am glad you found it in your heart to give her love and a forever home.
