I would like to mention to Phil--and everyone--that while I was referring to GSDs in my statement, " I'm willing to have a rational conversation with anyone who loves the breed," I admire ANY breed that can work.
My last schutzhund training group was comprised primarily of American Bulldogs, Pitbulls, Presa Canrios, and yes, Mali's. The training director/helper is the handler of Uras La Machera di Ferro--those who attended the 2009 AWMA and AWDF Nationals or 2010 Northeastern Regionals should be familiar with that dog.
But more to the point, many of the bully people in our group said they always felt like outcasts at Schutzhund trials because some of the GSD people would look down their noses at them. I know some Mali people feel the same way. But I marvel at the sheer strength of the bully breeds and the amazing athleticism and intensity of the Belgian Malinois. So while those breeds aren't my first choice, I'll admit I am a GSD nut, how can you love a working sport and not love another breed who excels in it? We are already too small a group of people to have such divisions, buts that's just human nature I suppose (unfortunately).

Hi Scott...welcome! Nice pics....you train with PPCA...we aren't far from eachother. If they still train at Andy Bensing's place it's only 20 minutes from me.
