 Kyle:

 I agree.

If the AKC was that worried about something they could effect for the better they could change there breeding registrations to include mandatory genetic testing at least to the minimum. There would be ground breaking leadership focused on the welfare of the breeds.

I am sure that program ceased to exist already.

"Not all Schutzhund enthusiasts cared to have there titles listed on the AKC paper work most that I know and have heard even discuss it could of cared less it was more the show line folks who found it all a fancy."

You are certainly welcome to your opinion but at least one of the primary players in that effort was titling and trialing dogs probably before you could spell German Shepherd, has won several national level competitions including the Sch III nationals and has a represented the U.S. internationally many times including having been on at least three World Cup teams so, yeah...not so much simply a "show line" thing as you claim.

Calm down Keith, The initial poster,s question was answered. It,s a washed up program. Carful you might throw a blood clot or something?

I'm not excited; simply pointing out to the uninitiated that the push for a biting sport did not originate with the AKC.

indeed a funny choice of breeds , and as you mention it there are more than four , just are used to the few you see at competitions that you forget there are a few more
so now that AKC fell out , how many organizations you have left right now that organize trails etc

Far from it the AKC shuns it even today... But you can run around the ring with a squeeky toy for fun.

The AKC did not jump on this band wagon until after the twin towers were hit.  Then they saw the value of S & R dogs.  Then the war took off and they saw the value of military and police K9.  It was not because they thought it was just TIME to have performance evaluations for working dogs.  They realized that their version of working dogs was of no value in the REAL world.  But yet these dogs had akc cerification which basically means nothing.

The AKC program failed because no one wanted to be part of a bs program.  There was even talk of taking the courage test out of C.  I still think the attack out of the blind should be put back into the sch 1.

Kyle:

Again I agree with you.I,d love to see the old style catch back in the routine. But then many of the showline dogs would,t pass and that won,t happen. Why make a working dog worK?

I agree, the attack on the handler should be put back in and it is part of the test for the breed survey....such as it is.  As far as titles on AKC pedigrees, for me it would be a waste of time.   I don't even look at AKC pedigrees anyway.
