Hachiko,
Where are you located ? Are you in the States? If yes then going to Europe to pick a puppy sounds to me not intelligent.
U.S.A has more GSD breeders than Germany itself, I wish I were in U.S.A, I would buy as many puppies I can raise, there are so many excellent and very honest breeders there, better than many in Europe, so why not buy locally, if fellow Americans can not recommend you good breeders in the States I will.

I agree with Ibrahim...There are so many great dogs here in our own country, we shouldn't have to go abroad to get a good one, unless of course its to be able to say, "He's an IMPORT"...JMO...
Ibrahim, com'on over. There are many great locations available to relocate to, and we would love to have you as one of our own...

Thank you so much, I wish I had this invitation 20 or 30 years ago, I would have come, I'm too old for that now, lol. But thank you.

Dont be stupid buy your dog in USA they will sell you junk in Germany unless you know somebody over there. Everyone know they keep the good dogs and send the bad ones to America to people with more money than brains. Look here this web site has some of the best dogs in the world for sale on it.

Tell me if all the dogs sold from Germany to the USA are bad ones as you put it, where did the original breeding stock come from, and tell me are you a breeder of GSD's and if so can you tell me the name of your website so i can look to see what breeding dogs you have
Later on today if it stays dry i will take a few Pics of a 6 month old German bred Pup on Protection, Pity i do not have a Cam to take it moving then you will see in action another bad one that came from Germany

Not all GSD breeders in Germany are crooks. The key is having done your home work. Know what lines you are interested in, tell them what you are looking for, ask for video of Sire and Dam during training, ask for video of the pups. You can sometimes see dominance, shyness, activity level compared to other pups. Pups are always a crap shoot with hips as well. Not all top pick pups in a litter are necessarily the best. But yes why would they send their best prospects to the USA?
Price wise you DO have some haggle room. Look into the cost of shipping. Come up with a price including shipping and make that offer. Its your money. What do you have to lose. You could always buy two pups as well which is the same cost of shipping one. But as others have said there are plenty of fine breeders here in the USA. But if you don't know how to test a puppy or litter it does not matter where you get it from. You are still taking someones word on the pups evaluation.

Steve don't get so excited what i am telling you is that John Doe regular gsd lover should buy in the US. Now the reason is because there are breeders here who have already searched the world for the best lines and now have them and breed them all the time. If you don't already have contacts in the world whom you have been friends with for years your chances of importing a high class dog for standard money is slim. But in US you have a 80% chance of getting what you payed for cause there are crooks everywhere. But across the pond being a nobody to "Big Breeders" with money to spend you have 50% chance of getting what you want at best. And congrats on your pups protection work i am sure some people are getting great dogs from there. Don't have a web site up yet sorry Steve i will let you know soon as i do. And i will post the video of my US breed young girls protection of her property about an hour ago against a very aggressive raccoon.

Why go to Germany anyway, The Dogs in Belgium on average are better no doubt about that, In Gernany they do things a little different in Trials. Not all i would think but some and it is so much easier for a dog to get Points in a Protection Trial, This would never be allowed in Belgium, they do it the right way or they get docked points and i do mean docked a lot of points, They are sticklers for having it right over in this little country, and rightfully so
For instance what am italking about
The Side Transport', the Helper comes back to the Handler and Dog. that would not be allowed to happen in Belgium, and i saw it happen only this last weekend, and it is a common practice in Germany, and that is only one item, However it was not a big affair,so that was the way they did it
