Ha,
My pup left the charcoal alone and ripped open a bag of compost and a bag of peat moss.
She had it spread all over the place in just a few minutes.
Try non match light hickory coals. lol

VomRuiz, I know exactly what happened! That's a lot to scarf in 5 seconds! My dog is like a stealthy cat burgler, I dare not leave a plate of deviled eggs unguarded, ever. He would daintily snatch just one without a trace, but the uneven number left gives it away... LOL
VomMarischal, I feel your pain. There was a time when I only bought cheap sunglasses and had visitors sign waivers that I was not responsible for replacing any eyewear (or cellphones) while they were being entertained at my home. And the number of DS's in my home with teeth marks, ha! I always ask if the extended warranty's people try to sell you cover Acts of Dog? Just to see them squirm, LOL

I thought I read somewhere a long time ago that real charcoal from burnt wood has some kind of bennefit to dogs. I know my grandpas Pit used to fish ashes out of the fireplace and eat them like treats.

Bee,
We couldn't even be MAD at them (of course we were but at ourselves...I mean big, raw steaks + loose dogs who are at the perfect height to steal...*shrugs* ) if it was another two seonds they would have gotten the second steak and kakbob, but at least we had a nice meal, even if we were still hungry afterwards.
And the dogs didn't even have the decency to look the least bit contrite! Imagine!
And the daintily stealing deviled eggs...hahahahahaha.... maybe he thinks you can count, but not that well, so only takes one for fear of being discovered :-D
