Two choices
1) the dog is put down- it is a danger to other dogs, and is in the hands of irresponsible people.  Do they want to have a lawsuit because their dog killed someone elses pet?  Dogs get loose, etc, and this can happen again.
2) Strict management- training, managing the dog, supervising and secure fencing, and keeping it as an only dog in the household.  But like I mentioned, even attempts at management can fail, someone forgets to close a door all the way and that's it.

If I were these owners, I would have to take an honest look at my part in the situation, and why I didn't train the dog properly or why I wasn't supervising these animals.  I would not want to kill my dog because of a series of mistakes I made.

The reason I ask, I have nothing to do with this dog.  I met this lady 2 years ago when I was going to adopt this dog (at the time 1 1/2 yrs old).  She looked me up again begging me to take this dog and explained all this to me.  Some people told her to put the dog down some say no.  I personally agree with you all it is totally her fault.  From what I understand the first time was over a bone, the second time she left them alone in the yard while she ran inside.  So don't really know what caused it the second time.  She does not seem to have a very good understanding of dogs.  This dog is a wild child she can't even get the dog to sit to put a collar on.  I was just curious what everyone thinks.  I think to dog should go to a better home with someone that will take the time to train her.

You need to walk way away from this..unless you have years of experience with dogs...expecially the breed....leave it...as we say

owners fault, stupid owner, the dog needs to be with someone who understands dogs.  Sad for the poodle tho.

Small dogs ( 20 lbs. or less) can be mistaken for prey and can be attacked or even killed! Do not leave a German Shepherd with a small dog without supervision! Small dogs like (Yorkshire terrier -Chihuahua -Daschounds) get up in the German Shepherds face and challenge them and then the German Shepherd will bite and can kill them!

You have to protect smaller animals. That is the responsibilty of a pet owner. I have a 1 yr old GSD and an 8 year old beagle. I like them to be together but at I owe it to my beagle to be able to protect her always. It is not fare to her to not protect her and she gets hurt or killed. And the same for my Shepherd. It is not fare to leave them together then when something bad happens my GSD faces punishment. you have to take 100% control and responsibility when owning animals. Something much too many take way too lightly. But not sure if the GSD should or should not be put down. Depends on alot of variables.

Ha ha.
Damn, YEAH MAN, BOTH DOGS SHOULDN'T DIE.
It's was more than likely being defensive, and as a big dog, he/she might not have known its own strength against a teeny dog.
So my answer is,
No, they'd be stupid to put it down, losing both dogs.
Would you shoot a lion who was protecting his territory, against a younger male lion?
No.. It's nature, these things happen, learn from it, tell them not to get other ***edited by mod.  for inappropriate language*** dogs around that dog.
; D
