I am going to be focusing on hard surface tracking, parking lots, streets and shopping centers for the next few weeks and will be making some food just for that. I may try the liver idea. sounds interesting. Since I feed raw, kibble is out for me. I am going to feed 1/2 the dogs meal on the track and see how it goes.

I have been using the natural balance, string cheese and articles. reward the dog on the track and the ants aren't a problem so far. I feed raw, and was putting raw beef or pork on the track, ants loved it.

Hallo,
Natural Balance has done wonders! I cant use hotdogs because of vasps. Actually my dog got bitten as an young adult and when he saw a hottog he made a dtour around it and kept tracking without eating it.
Frozen in my case (summer time) is not really much help since I let my track sit at least an hour, usually 2-5 hours for the advanced dogs.
So Natural balance and later my dogs track for the articles so I use very little bait on tracks.
Happy tracking

Garlic is potentially toxic to dogs. I don't think it'd be possible for an adult dog [large body mass] to reach toxic levels with garlic-laden tracking bait [low quantity of food actually on the track]; but with a very small puppy [low body mass] who is getting bait in every single footstep [high garlic intake]... you might want to shy away from the garlic just to play it safe.
