R1,
Before you spend your hard earned money be sure to have as much information
on your own about the basic foundation work. Clubs have a director of training, but
the more you can put on your dog before you approach a club the better.
The club does not want to work you through all the basics, but they also don't
want to retrain a dog that has not been trained right. It's not easy, unless you
had a friend to give you a helping hand. One that knows what they are doing.
Cee... offered to help you get started..... may be that's not a bad idea.
Video's are good if you are just starting out. You can't go far working off a vacuum.
And you can replay them over and over. Look for ones that are made for the task you have
at hand, and go from there.
How do you eat an elephant?...............One bite at a time!!!

R1,
Cee is... Malshep.....I don't remember the post but she did offer, unless
she withdrew...... PM her.
A series from start to finish to gain confidence training and working your dog
is much needed. I would like to see people put their $600. there first.
Clinton Anderson does a series on riding with confidence that I think is superb.
Clinton says so much in his tapes I put my Sony player on slow speed. It makes
him sound like he has had about 3 beers, but it is slow enough for me to follow him.
I bought all his DVDs. I can't say enough about him training newbies and the confidence
that I got from watching them. My horsemanship skyrocketed.
I am still a fan of natural horsemanship.... that old Ray Hunt used to teach.
