Koehler method is a good fundimental start for anyone who is new to
dog training. If you have trained allot dogs, you will see dogs that
have no problem with cross training, and in fact soak it up like a sponge.
But the younger the dog is or older it is will be a big factor. Koehler started
dogs very young and stess was always an issue. So it was just good to stick
to obediance and nothing else, until your dog had a good grasp, than you
could move on. Some dogs you will find are able to do both with no problem,
usually because they have very good trainers and they are very good dogs.

Basic obedience (heel, sit, come) he said start when dog is a MINIMUM of 6 months old, so no dogs younger than 6 months.
