Mindhunt

Bike Week in Daytona years ago is so much different than the current incarnation.  I always felt safest among the Bikers (not the wanna-bes).  Never got called miss and treated like a lady more.  It was funny.  We have had Harleys since we first started dating.

As for the show format, just more of the same "Reality TV" format, everything is a crisis, everything is dramatic, whining, and by all means lets talk bad about others.  Survivor, Orange County Chopper, and the now off the air show about rebuilding cars (name slips my mind). I only saw 1 episode of Rescue Ink and it was along the same format as the others.  In all fairness, I may have seen a less then best episode of Rescue Ink.

Hello? Orange County Chopper a reality show? I don't think so. It is show about a working shop, not some contrived throwing together of people and seeing what bizarre behavior they do to each other.

Talking to friends that really design and fabricate cars and motorcycles, much of OCC is kit stuff with some customization.  I guess just about anyone can get a show now adays as long as it sells LOL.  Wonder if someone here should create a reality show called "Real Trainers, Real Dogs, Real Work" except the stuff that happens during dog training, the fun stuff, the OMG-my-dog-did-what, the frustrations, and all the ups and downs, wouldn't be believed by the general public anyway.  LOL

Bob-O,
How times have changed, no offense intended.
Most of the guys I knew never bothered anyone unless they had no out, or too much to drink, or maybe something else.
Still they had their moments, sometimes when you just didn't know what was going to happen you might quietly just walk away.
I was never a brother, always on the outside looking in.
Couldn't take the laughing at my junk bikes.
I wouldn't ride with the crazies either,
give me that low rumble over a screaming blur any ole day.

Your right about the image and wannabes.
We get a lot of groups and clubs riding through here along the scenic route, meeting a crotch rocket in a blind curve can be a lot of fun.
I really enjoy the riding apparel, some of them go all out, leather ain't cheap...lol

Now a days I'm lucky to get a ride on my sons Honda.

My best Bud still rides his old Chopper but the attitude's been gone for many years, and besides the bike's too valuable to risk losing.
Lotsa great memories anyway,

Moons.

Did anyone see the show with the Russian guy poisoning cats? That episode was strange because the wimpy little guy at first agrees to do the right thing. When the dudes come back with the hose setup to spray the offending ferals away instead of slipping them arsenic, he starts to squirm and renege. I figure it took him a that long to find the courage to continue being a jerk. He was definitely intimidated at first.

On a side note, "some of my best friends" are Harley bikers. They always complain about the "rice rockets". They have the most extensive collection of Harley apparel and collectibles. I bought them a calendar one year, only to find they never opened it; they didn't want to rip the shrink wrap and ruin the condition. I don't think I have ever seen them wear clothing without something Harley on it. Thank goodness years ago we managed to break them free of black tee shirts only. Now a days any color will work, so long as there is a Harley logo somewhere.

Beetree- I think they are correcting wrong by wrong. I have seen several episode in Nat. Geo. Wild.

They are doing the whole thing incorrectly by intimidating people. My opinion the are illegal. I think animals cops are the right people not these ones.

So-called "reality shows" are ridiculous .... staged, scripted....a complete waste of time.

by beetree on 02 March 2010 - 13:03

Tarek,

I think there is a fine line to be walked. Their heart might be in the right place, but they could be arrested if they go over the line with the wrong person.

You are absolutely right, since there is no legality behind them. Can you tell me whom they represent????
