I trialed under him... Never again!

by Sheesh on 27 February 2010 - 00:02

Wow, this is very interesting to me! I would not hesitate to trial under him. As a matter of fact, after meeting him, I was hoping to be able to trial under him in the future. He made my group members at that trial feel relaxed. Theresa

OK lets say I loved trialing under Lance Collins... I will trial under Lance 100 times over Vic and Lance is one hell of a difficult judge to please, he is very opiniated and very tough on the hanlers at times (some people reported rude, not my experience)

Anyway everybody has personal preference rght?

by VomMarischal on 27 February 2010 - 00:02

Yeah, I definitely prefer judges who do not try to get too friendly. I prefer NOT to have a judge baby me along; I want to just go out and do my thing and not be followed around with a guy joking "BREATHE, BREATHE!" behind me. Also, since I knew my dog was NOT gunshy, that made me not really trust anything else he had to say about her. I think she just knew he was giving me the creeps so she got them too. Just a matter of personality clash, probably.

I found him to be quite fair and professional in his judging. All BH participants were newbies and quite nervous as well. One failed out of 6, and they were completely unprepared to begin with. Everyone does have their own opinion for sure. :-) Theresa

I know of one thing I am all for taking points off of my dog, he trully was bad that day, he was not performing well as I wanted to kill him His OB on the field was OK but his rudness toward the helper was obvious, the dog had absolutelly no respect and he pushed the helper like his little bitch.. OH Well

what killed me that a dog that was EXTREMELY weak, no hardness, no dedication almost painful proformanse a dog that we had so stand far away so the dog would not leave the field..... The most points? Never again.. hell no!
Vick is a nice man, no doubt about it, he is Not my type of a judge. I want people who are going to be hadr on everubody who trials.. not just one dog...

He is a great judge, IMO.  He likes a convincing, tough, dog.  He especially likes tough bitches, with much passion.  He is entertaining, humorus, a great handler, and will train most people into the ground.  I have found him to be fair accross the board.  I haven't seen give extra points to friends or training directors.

Put him in something like a Holiday Inn Express, with continental breakfast, newspapers, etc.  It will make him happy.  He likes to sightsee, if possible.  He loves Cabelas!!LOL  He loves Cracker Barrel cherry pancakes or a good steak.

Vic is a wealth of information.  BUT, don't ask his opinion....for he will certainly give it.LOL

He may be knowledgeable but, he tries to sell dogs, he is here to make money and thats what he seems to try to do the entire time. Talk to people he has sold dogs to and see what they say. Saw him judge a trial and he was a judge no more no less

I go to enough trials in a Year over here and i cannot remember seeing him Judge a Trial i have watched, Perhaps he spends most time away, But to be fair there are several trials going on the same day
Steve1
Added on,
Of course he may do trials the other side of Beguim to where i live but i have not seen his name in any trials from the V.V.D.H list but they do not list every Judge for every trial for some have not got a Judge organised right away,
But the bulk of Trials comes from the Brabant and Limburg areas of Belgium where i live, From there on to the other side of Belgium to the coast the Clubs are thinner on the ground
