A German breeder told me, if you make mistakes in your breeding you loose a lot in your line in only three generations.

Once you go past G Parents it becomes more of a lottery simply because there are more dogs there fore more permutations of which can come out plus the line is getting weaker
There are two old sayings in Breeding
Breeding is GOLD - SILVER is Performance
the next is The APPLE DOES NOT FALL FAR FROM THE TREE that means breed as close to the top Breeding Females and Top Performance Dogs as you possibly can
Finally
What does Pedigree tell us
It tells us how a Dog is bred naturally for without that bit of paper it would b e a hit and miss Job. until such times one could build up your own pedigree tree or portfollio by breeding and performance over generations which will test your breeding program out
But it would take a very long time, you will get the general gist of what i am saying
It is No different than a work sheet on a car which has been serviced regular as against one who has no records, Which one would you Buy

Time now to get into the Car and i am off to see my second Dog trial compretition of 2010
Hope it stays dry
