Wanted: Dog Breeder Standard Rating System - Page 2

Yes Bee great ideas....to get all the ideas together is a task in its self.  A thought....for example Someone(say Beetree, would go to (making up a kennel name) Vom X kennels in IL. Pretend to be a client....get a look at everything,ask what they breed for ie:sport,confirmation etc,if they actually have a breeding program to better the breed or do they just randomly import dogs and breed,if they DO have a program what is it and why do they think those dogs are suitable to be bred,if sport...do they title their own dogs or do they send them off to be titels,then there is the over look of the facility it's self. I have been to a place that was IMACULATE and all was welll with the dogs etc.Then I have been to one that was a great facility but she failed on the breeding portion of it all.SO just because it looks great on the outside.....doesn't mean that the dogs are being bred or cared for the properly.Doesn't mean there aren't out breaks of sickness. WOW this would be a BIG project!!! You aren't kidding Ray!! No to mention is someone goes and checks it out and then reports and then to get peoples imput of what it was like if they have gone there.Good and bad.
There is a book out there of traveling with your pet.It has a bunch of hotels all marked if good and the amenities for you and the dog.I am guessing this would kinda be like that.

bumping to the top. I really like this idea. not sure how it would all be worked out though? How would we(the general public) know the breeders are being rated fairly & who would be allowed to rate them? How would a site like this be monitored?

To stay fair there would have to be guidlines as in what food critics rate restaurants or hotels are rates on a system.It can't be a personal vandeta to slam a breeder.If there are too many breedings or dogs on the property, kennel set up,registered,titled etc. Pictures coule be posted or sent in by the breeder if they want to participate.Or there could be a representative of a state ie: I am in AZ so I could travel to kennels/breeders out here (with their permission of course) take pics do a write up and score it  acordingly to the "check off system" Kinda like a health inspector but more so to tell people about the kennel from an outside perspective...not what the breeder writes in their web site advert.
