Still don't know where your from,
Forget the German commands.
For your purposes, go to the library or a book store and find a copy of William Koehlers,
The Koehler Method of DOG TRAINING.
Your running out of time and it sounds like your already following that train of thought.
This is old stuff but basic and it still works today.
In the mean time socialize the dog in every way you can come up with, exposure to sights, sounds, movement, people, and make it fun, no force.
Moons.
P.S.
This can be slow, just now saw your location,
thanks.
I'm in Indiana.

You have a 5 month old PUPPY, good idea to stop what ever training you were doing-way too much for a young puppy. I recommend lots of positive interactions with food in your pockets to make him think you are the greatest thing around. You can't TEACH a puppy with physical corrections. Hopefully he gets time in the house interacting with all the family members too. It's ok to kennel a puppy/dog but they still need time inside and going on walks or car rides to different places, seeing and hearing lots of different things.

Socializing means exposing him to the world,
Yes the family comes first, other humans next, but get him used to something new everyday.
The more he learns the safer and more confident he will become.
