If your dog is thirsty enough he will drink. No need to "force feed water". Just like in humans. People get it so ingrained that "i need 8 glasses of water a day and if i dont im dehydrated". When in fact if some people did that they would be water logged most of the day. If your body or your dogs body needs it they will drink how ever much they need. You can drown yourself from the inside out if you drink too much water. As the saying goes everything in moderation. That includes over hydrating your body/dogs.
Dry food might not be the problem. Him scarfing his food down could be the problem which is why i would go the kibble little by little until each of his meals are completed.

Even if the problem is gulping food - adding water to the kibble - just before feeding it, and not enough to make "soup" - may help ;) worth a try.

Cover the pups nose with palm of your hand as if you would try to suffocate it. Keep its mouth closed too. As the pup struggles to breath look at it's throat . If you see a bulge popping back and forth like on a frog then the pup has magaesophagus. It is possible that the pup does not do this and still has this condition. Also such pup will run into the corner and puke and eat the vomit ; sometimes several times in a roll. Problem usually get's worse so in mild cases you may not see it . This condition may start in any age. Take the pup to the vet. The diagnosis is done with x ray after the pup is fed liquid barium. This is a serious problem and even if the dog may be able to have relatively normal life it will most likely sooner or later (Sometimes years) die of it due to aspiration and pneumonia. I am sorry.
Dog must immediately be put on liquid diet and fed from elevated position so that the liquid food can come down with the help of gravity.

O trust me. Anything to help a dog out. Try either method until you feel your comfortable with it and your dog does good on it. Thats with anything.
The elevated theory has been argued many times as well Hans.

German breeders and trainers told me many years ago to put lttle water on food ..NO one said soak....Dry dog kibble needs to go down easier with some dogs.
Especially ones who gulp..It was also a known fact that Bloat or Torshen was less to be a problem if dry kibble is wet down with some broth or warm water...
I have done it for years. If the germans who told me to do were wrong... I don;t know why they bothered to inform me of that...It works so I pass on my information....

I would not worry if pup pukes just because it eats too fast or drinks too much water. I would worry about magaesophagus. Read my former entry.

YR i never said YOU or the germans who told you for that matter were wrong. I was stating why i do what i do and he could try and why i dont like weting soaking or doing anything else to the kibble.
And whats to say not feeding him the kibble slower will make it go down easier compared to weting it? He just has to try w/e is more cofortable for him and see if it works. Theres plenty of info on the web and in this topic alone for him to do that.

Gilgarmor,
You have not given enough information for any kind of reply.
Wetting food is bad?
Please................................
Diluting stomach enzymes and bacteria?
Please...............................
Mega esophagus?
Please..............................
A four month old pup pukes, ever once in a while.
No other information offered?
Please.............................
Gilgarmor,
What are you feeding?
How are you feeding?
When, how often ?
What else is going on in the meantime, activities, habits?
What else does the dog put in its mouth besides food?
Return and join the discussion, answer a few questions so people have some idea of what they are talking about.

Moons: Your funny
RIght on My post #5434 ASK POSTER TO PLEASE ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS?
WAITING , waiting and waiting:
Sometimes they eat grass or dirt and rocks and then throw up the meal... Grass contains probiotics...and causes regurgitation.....
We will wait for a response...I imagine we covered all the bases.. I am sure if it was mega the pup would be in poor condition ,,,or surely would have noticed...
Another question I have: Is your pup vomiting or regurgitating? vomit is an action involving the stomach wretching and gagging and food coming from past the esophagus? Regurgitating is the food coming from just a choking motion from partial undigested food not yet reaching the stomach/? Big difference.
How is dogs bowel movement...any hint of mushy or not formed?
DId poster raise this pup??? DID poster buy put at what age?? Did Poster call breeder and ask...about other pups or if the breeder could tell poster what should be done???
Has Poster called the vet or is this just once in a while occurence.???
Maybe he has acid indigestion? Many of the ingredients in Commercial dog foods are hard to digest...if you put corn, corn gluten, and fat and a preservative..and then salava .you have GLUE.....try swallowing that?
Changing a diet often can cause vomiting not regurgitation. Stale dog food is another cause.
are you giving any treats with rawhide??? Is there red dye in the food or in any treats you are giving the PUP?? Toxic dyes and preservatives give gas and can cause puppy to be sick.?
Have you read the labels of the things your dog is eating or chewing on?
I'm thru:
After all , these are the questions the breeder should be asking.. Keep Pepto Bismol on hand....give with a syrnge if dog is gasy or shows signs of diahrea?
