I bought my dogs as puppies from reputable workingline breeder in Belgium for $1600 including the shipping. Both parents are titled and checked for HD and ED, also DNA'd.
I think that was a fair price for a puppy and it's about the same I would have paid for a puppy here in the US. My most recent puppy arrived two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier.
Here is her pedigree to give you an idea of what the breeder I use is breeding

If you are interested you can private message me and I can give you a link to his webpage. You didn't specify if you were looking for showline or workingline

OP,
be very careful. People here would jump on you the moment you say you want to buy a dog. Everyone will open the doors of their shops here . So be very careful whom you deal with. If you are very unfamiliar with the European terrain email some good kennels and deal with them directly. US folks especially would feel jealous the moment you say you want to buy a European dog. But stick with your decision. You have made the right choice. Be wary of PIMPS on this board.
cheers

Why buying from DE when you can find some nice breedings in states? Just dose not make sense to me. Few years back, it was really hard to find a good quality breeders in this country but now, there is planty of them. And you can always fly in drive in and take a look at the dog before you pay.

Pay attention to what you're hearing from other posters. If I were going to take that route, I would start talking to some breeders ahead of time to narrow the field, plan a course of action, take a couple or few weeks off and go to Germany to see several dogs/talk to the breeders, etc. but I have an advantage in that I know my way around Germany, speak the language and have friends with whom I could stay. Even then, who knows if I'd find the right dog to make all of the trouble worthwhile.
Another thing to think about is your own experience as a handler unless any of the German dogs you've purchased previously were trained and/or titled. A controller at one of my client companies thought she was the coolest importing a schutzhund trained Doberman from Germany when she had no idea how to handle such a dog. I probably never would have known about it if she hadn't shown up for a meeting with both hands completely bandaged. I heard she sent the dog back and bought a Golden Retriever pup...probably for the best...

Another thing is DOG or PUPPY? I wouldn't bother to get a puppy from Germany. Plenty of great pups here, and they're such a crapshoot, it's not worth it if there's a problem. Now, if you want a specific, proven DOG...well, then be prepared to pay for it, and you just may have to import. But- make sure it's the DOG you are paying for, and you're not paying a broker to get you a dog that you could've gotten in a pound in any big US city.

All those things to look out for it is to big a risk to buy outside the US if you live here plus like the other poster wrote they will only export there junk think about it why would they sell you something good they could keep and breed they wouldn't it is all marketing there are plenty of high quality dogs here in the USA that have as good bloodlines as any across the pond it is just to risky and you say you want a trained schutzhund dog why not find one here you can see work in person and have the owner show you how to work him remember all the horror story's on here about how hard it is to get your money back when you been ripped off in your own country and then think you wont even be able to talk in person with the seller if you don't speak there language BUY AMERICAN PLEASE
