Invincible, it should be easy enough for you to find the low drive dogs. But how low are we talking? Do you want a lazy dog that just sits and watches everything without getting up to check it out or just a pup that doesn't put holes in your clothes and skin? You could advertise and pick up the culls that most breeders don't even want to feed to age 8 weeks, probably free of charge, doing them a service.

Check out German Shepherd Rescue. There are many looking for homes. Tell them you want a dog that is very easy going, and calm. The only other choice... is a German Shepherd Statue.
I also have German Showlines....NOT a couch potato! Needs to be busy!
Hope you find what your looking for.

Invincible bw: Is this a trick question? It might have been better to rephrase your request if you are serious. Breeders who take their programs personally tend not to admit faults of any kind. A proper GSD has proper drives. It feels like you are asking, who is responsible for these lazy athletes? I do agree with Maggie's method of choosing a laid back pup; it is as good as any, and is exactly what I would do, lol.
Oh, and 4pack, you got me thinking, why don't I ever hear about these great cull deals until it's too late?

Not too hard to figure out breeders don't want to talk about their crappers.

Heres the SV breed Standard
General Appearance The German Shepherd Dog is a medium-size, slightly stretched, strong, and well muscled, with the "bone" dry and firm in the over-all construction. Important measurements and proportions: The withers height for males is 60 to 65 cm; that of bitches is 55 to 60 cm.* The length of torso exceeds the measure of the withers height by about 10 - 17 %. The German Shepherd Dog must be, in its essential image, well-balanced, firm in nerves, self-confident, absolutely calm and impartial, and (except in tempting situations) amiable. He must possess courage, willingness to fight, and hardness, in order to be suitable as companion, watchdog, protector, service dog, and guardian.

I have a dog with enough drive to get him through anything I ask. Guess what? I don't worry about him hurting people, especially children and he is a super family dog. I love him to death, sure he will bite a sleeve but he will bite a hidden sleeve too, a suit, or your bare ass, if you feel like getting froggy with me. A dog with drive doesn't mean a dog without a brain, my dog can tell the differnce between the neighbor kid hiding behind my garbage cans, playind hide and seek (not a threat) and a dude casing my house (threat). He will go up and check out both but only 1 will get barked at and/or bit.
Invincible, what is your point posting the standard? Why have you errased your previous posts?
