A spay/neuter agreement is like a contract--only as good as the person signing or receiving it.  "Oh I've got this lovely off color bitch; I'll just register it UKC or CKC or anything but AKC and breed and make my money back."  Rather than culling the pups I think they should all be altered before ever going to their new homes.  JMO.........

The two I got were definitely altered. I keep up with them whenever possible...always like to know where my puppies are going, and always buy them back if I have to. These two livers are FANTASTIC working quality dogs...and let's face it, there's no reason they shouldn't do SchH. I don't think it's any worse than any other fault. You just don't breed the ones with the faults, that's all.

They sure as HECK never went to a POUND. Hell no, no dog of mine EVER ends up there, guaranteed.

If you're going to start backtracking on faults, most of the dang breed would be dead for one reason or another. Every dog has a fault somewhere. But don't most people automatically sell on a limited registration? I do, and if the dog turns out to be good at training, or when they get altered, I'll update it to full registration.

My experience is that the blues at least (have dealt with 2) are "genetic trashcans" in that they also seem to have multiple other issues to go along with the off color. I have heard this from breeders as well. The issues include MegaE, EPI, bad hips/elbows and other inherited problems. So being a "blue" alone isn't a problem, but in my experience ethe off-color indicates that the dog likely has other problems. I don't agree with culling, but can understand that A) it is it unhealthy to spay/neuter animals to begin with, *especially before sexual maturity,B) people liking things that are different will lead to unaltered dogs that are placed out likely being bred anyhow, so maybe the breeders who cull do so to ensure the removal of genetic disorders from the reproductive pool? Again, not saying I agree with it, just that people being people, the dogs either must be altered at an unhealthy age to ensure no reproduction, or someone is going to breed them.

The one thing you are forgetting in this thread is ALL dogs and humans carry at least 12 or more recessive or incomplete genes. So if the rule is all animals and humans that carry a recessive gene ( fault ) should die.

Well I guess we all should look in the mirror and kiss ourselves and our dogs Good bye!

Remember color is only skin deep. Most other faults are a lot deeper then that.

just my thoughts, mahon

Hey I agree,
The human gene pool could use a good cleansing.
Humans are always the problem.
Thats why I support freedom of choice.

Reminder to all reading and posting ..We have three top dogs throwing Liver pups from Europe to USa and back...

Do you think anyone ever had it in their mind to kill all the male dogs and female bitches  throwing all these Liver pups.   Well  if so   bye bye Timo and Uran........

Uran is dead but Timo isnt I do not think...

There is a list a mile long of gsd that have thrown liver pups and blue.....Are those top dogs gonna be killed or nuetered or spayed.....They are all still being bred  and still producing liver and blue pups.....so   what next do you suggest...Evidentually that was not even given a thought in the GSD world.....

Better come up with a new theory and a new solution  or just axxept the Liver and Blue for what they are...

I do not think any of the money making, top dogs producing these livers are gonna be  neutered  , spayed  or killed .

Spay and nuter? I don'b belive in one performed before maturity and I don't trust enough people to be responsible owners ;) sorry. Like I said my choice would be PTS.

Yeah I think humans with genetic faults should be PTS as well. Keep in mind some people don't treat dead like the worst thing it could happen to someone ;) for me dead is part of leaving. And yeah I know I am cruel ;) sorry.

Wow this place can get heated sometimes huh? All I wanted to know is if the original guy that posted like 4 years ago ever found his liver or blue and if so where could I possibly find a liver puppy?  Not to breed I have two dogs already and only want three.
