I think she is beautiful! Odd about the coat but who knows what changes may occur in the next year. She may end up with a really long coat but as GSDtravels says, does it really matter? Enjoy her.

My little Sita is the most beautiful coated GSD dog I've ever seen - in my eyes! She will never be a conformation title winner, but who cares! She's perfect for our family.
Bella is a beautiful pup! I hope she lives to a ripe old age and that you can enjoy every minute with her.

What many people also forget is that "coats" come in many variations. You get short coats that go from very thin to lush deep coats and the longcoat can be simply the feathers round the ears, legs, belly and full tail to the full blown walking rug.
I have a longcoat who is easier to care for than short coats, her undercoat is there but not as deep and the plush short coat, and the longer coat dries quickly, and she is the kind with the fluffy ears, legs and a huge bushy tail with a few more knickers than average.
Enjoy your girl. I find many people are less bothered with my long coat, somehow she appears "prettier" and more approachable than the short coats I own.

Thank you all for your comments, we are enjoying every minute with her. She certainly is all GSD and we personally think she appears prettier and should be a excellent therapy dog. So far we seen a GSD that may help the public misconception of GSD as a dangerous dog. She is a people pleaser thus far and we hope we can keep it up. As with all working dogs her drive is intense and is attending GSD pre-training. We want her to move on to obedience, she has a high drive to please. Her herding ability is naturally inherent. Runs using her whole foot and effortlessly. It is treat to watch her free range. As she is only 5 months she certainly acts much beyond her age. We want her to enjoy puppyhood and her work later up to her ability. She enjoys the challenge and it is hard to hold back. Since we brought her home she has not had accident in the house. We will have to train her to relieve herself away from home as she has yet to have gone outside her kennel a problem that we have never dealt with. We will have to train and seek advise. As for faults I see none, she has way beyond our expectations and would not be far off saying nearly perfect pup.
