Two Moons

The ear may or may not come up, I don't believe in glue or tape.
Good diet and wait and see.
They may still stand on their own.

I am curious about the tie outs on the posts.
Are they waiting for a workout, posing for pictures?
What is the purpose for this, If you could explain.

I did give her Osteocart, not sure if that played apart but we are good

do not worry, pup is only 6 mo old

start giving 1500mg of calcium with vitamin D per day (per my vet) with food until ears are up, just buy them in pharmacy or grossery store

I had pups with ears going up only after 8 mo old, the larger bones structure  dog have the later ears go up

my very big boy had ears starting to go up at 8.5 mo old, now they are perfect and very strong and firm

my very large bone structured girl 7.5 mo old and ears are just now started to struggle to get up

calcium plus D is the key

Gil, your pictures are showing up as very large.

If you want to fix this, select 'edit post', then right-click on the photo. Select 'properties', then when the edit box pops up, re-size the width of the picture to around 400-500 pixlels. The height will resize automatically.

It's hard to read posts when the picture is stretching the screen.

My friend had a male with a weak ear. She braced the inside of the ear with moleskin and Breath Right nasal strips. It's still a bit weak, but does stand up fully when he's interested in something.

You have to brace the ear where the crease is, or the crease will become permanent, and the ear will never stand.

My GSD is 5 months old..He goes nuts if something is in his ears..I am having a hard time taping them..They are strong at the bases, then flop to the side..

Why does everybody panic when puppy ears don't stand?  If the dog is close to a year, that's a different story.  If the ears end up flopping, well, then they should flop.  It's akin to having breast augmentation at age 13!  Have patience and give them a chance, leave the poor pup's ears alone.

DON'T WAIT AND TAPE IT FAST!!!

IT IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT WHEN THE EAR HAS A EXTERIOR FOLD LIKE YOUR DOG...I WOULDN'T WAIT CAUSE IT WILL REMAIN AND NEVER BE REALLY STRAIT..

JUST MY TWO CENTS..

JULIE

OH AND BY THE WAY..CALCIUM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT..THERE IS NO BONE IN THE EARS..JUST CARTILAGE AND CALCIUM HAS NO EFFECT ON THAT..IF YOU WANT PROBLEM..GIVE CALCIUM!

Give a good knuckle bone, it has less to do with calcium (although it's good for them in general) and more to do with strenghtening the muscles that hold the ears erect.
