Are there any showline dogs in the BSP this year? Any links to their pedigrees? How many of the dogs predicted to make a high seat are V rated?

poseidon- true comments!  For me, those dogs who place high at working trials and are V in structure, and the rare few showline dogs who perform well enough to get to the BSP to me are the true, well balanced GSDs.

Phil,

One thing about the lop-sided number of photos in the magazine that you need to consider... at last year's Sieger show there were maybe 400 dogs entered, and at the Nationals in Texas, maybe 60.

Remember... the dogs at the Nationals actually have to QUALIFY to enter with a 270 and show at a Regional. What does it take to enter a Sieger Show? For the young dogs, basically nothing. Just show up, pay your entry fee, and gait and stack. Only the “working dog” classes require a title at all, and that could be just passing with a 70-70-80 at a “paper trial” in Germany.

Nevetheless, your point is well taken and hopefully we will see expanded coverage of the working dog events in 2010.

Maybe it is because the working folks have been getting in training, or the recent regionals?  The show folks have lots of time to post and start threads between shows--they don't have to train.

The lack of a lot of chatter does not mean lack of interest.

Probably because working people are out working their dogs instead of chatting on message boards.

Checking score, looking up the pedigrees of the entries, and feeling sorry for ourselves because we aren't watching from the stands, beer in one hand, camera in the other, and belly full of yummy food.

Hmmm, let's see.

Javir Talka Marda cleaning up in protection today, as expected, with 98. Then a dog with 97 and  then a Wayne Curry!!!!!!!!! bred dog Maya with 95... interesting.

In tracking, a few 100 scores from dogs from famous kennels: Bracheler See, Wolfsblick and Kammberg.

In obedience, maybe all the dogs had a bad day or the judge is really tough (or both!), but the highest dog today was 92 (if I am correct breeder is Helmut Reiser, I may be mistaken), with a Von Loyola dog.

To be continued tomorrow.

Javir is probably bagging this one...

I can't believe how friggin' uniformly GREAT that J Talka Marda litter was, every damn dog kicks ass: Javir, Jim Beam, John, Jarek,  Jenna, Jillnannah - every damn dog rocks in this litter, male or female.

Thank you Adi for keeping us updated with the highlights of the day.  Look forward to more news as they come.

Jantie, I did read in Fred's report that the young dogs "ZW" is based on the parents.

He certainly does not need me to "champion" him, but  if I am mistaken that he put this disclaimer into his report, then please correct me.

I have never met anyone more "anal" concerning hips than Fred.

And this includes his many years research (as a scientist) into HD in the GSD and the publication of his book on HD.

So, I very subtly rebuke your very subtle rebuke of Fred.

He at least makes the yearly trek to the Sieger Show and offers his opinion of what is wrong  with the s/l and the dogs who he considers correct. And he pulls no punches.

You should offer a tour of the BSP for "expenses" only. I would be very interested.

Better still... Offer a tour to the BSP that operates at a loss, where you actually underwrite the whole trip for say a dozen? Two dozen? You will provide everything from Michelin 3 star cuisine and comfy recliners (under cover in the grandstand), to 5 star hotels and limousine service. Don't forget concierge service and private toilets. We do not want to stand in line, no NO!

...and they say the show people are the only ones who knowhow to live it up!
Hog wash.
