I wasn't born before 63 either, nor am I an American, but I just loved Lassie!  How I wish they still have shows like that on T.V.

I guess Lassie "got around" more than I realized!

Too bad we lost the TV version of Rin-Tin-Tin's type -- at least the color pattern.   The original Rin-Tin-Tin was a darker, grey dog, but the later generations of TV Rin-Tin-Tin's looked much more like Ace the Wonder Dog (my avatar).  A non-melanistic black and light tan dog with no mask.    Such an interesting look.  Anyone know anybody breeding that color these days?

I am not quite old enough to have realized that June Lockhart was not Timmy's first mother.  Cloris Leachman first played the part.

In those days, you could leave your kid at home alone (well, with Lassie) and not yet arrested for child neglect.

I am hoping to breed for maskless dogs some day, both stock and long coats.  Here is my male Luke, he is similar in coloring to Rin Tin Tin, but he is tan rather than silver.  We'll see what the future holds!

I agree RedSable, unfortunately there are not any shows like Lassie on TV today.  There aren't any shows that have some type of moral lesson at the end.  It's a shame.

The real Rin Tin Tin was a dark grey sable.  http://rita314.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/edward-a-bellande-with_rin-tin-tin-1925_web.jpg

But as you know, I love the maskless look of the TV Rin Tin Tin.  And your dog looks great -- and a lot like the TV (better looking) Rin Tin Tin.

And what are your competitive and breeding plans for Luke?
