Schluterton

GSDVince ............... You are sooo right.  People without psychic abilities or, at the very least, operative crystal balls should not be breeding dogs.   Perhaps all perspective buyers should submit to a lie detector.

How dare you?

So they didn't play ball or spend a lot of time training with her. Meh, big deal. They also didn't starve her, mistreat her or neglect her and they cared enough and had sense enough to know they could no longer care for her and let me take her back. They could have dumped her on a friend, sold her on Craigslist or dumped her on the side of the road.  I'm perfectly happy with how things turned out. I'd would have loved to see her stay with the same family forever, but heck, the family didn't stay together.

I agree that a return rate of 2 pups is not bad. I also commend you for responsibly taking back the puppy and working with her.  I APOLOGIZE to you for my first post. I am just tired of hearing the same story over and over about how people didn't understand  the responsibilty  etc.. And yes, things do happen.

No offense taken.

Oh!  She is so cute!  Too bad my husband will leave me if I took in another dog.  I'd be down to snatch her up in a heart beat otherwise.  She sounds like a great girl.

we hardly ever breed a dog anymore, but used to breed some.  we always took dogs back if things didn't work out and believe me, some of those situations were mind blowing.  one male we took back because he stepped on a nail and got an infection.  another male went to a lady who was initially just fine.  a week later she was a basket case......prozac....or something.  anyway the dog came home and was eventually rehomed successfully.  there were others, but always it was for some unforseen reason.  okie did the right thing by taking the dog back.  screening buyers cannot be 100%.

I'm just really happy that she was returned without a bajillion serious behavior problems or worse. She is confident, curious and seems very sure of herself.

We worked our butts off building drive and imprinting minor obedience (recalls and sit front for their raw hamburger treats, ect) from the time they could walk.  We also make a point to take them places and expose them to horses, cattle, children and as many different surfaces to walk on as we safely can. Hopefully that pays off in making a more "bomb-proof" dog later.  They obviously didn't continue drive building, but for a house dog I can understand that. We can more than likely bring that drive back/up, and everything else will fall into place after that.

as a pup owner, never a breeder, I was so relieved when the wonderful lady I got my treasured puppy from said she would take her back if needed.  I almost didn't get a gsd, though I have wanted one since I was a little girl, because of worries over what MIGHT happen.  I had some health problems a few years back and now I can't help but worry sometimes what would become of my son, or my dogs if I got too sick or even worse.  because she said that, I was able to take my puppy home with one worry gone away--at least for this one dog.

My thanks to all you responsible breeders!

Okie, She is SO beautiful. Glad that the owners called you and asked you to take her back , and you did! I'm glad to hear she wasn't abused and at 10 months she shoudl be totally trainable! Hope you get a wonderful new home for her. I think I speak for almost everyone when I say "Let's see her new pictures!" :-))
