Maggie:
There is something amiss here, Did the son not look very upset? If that were my parents I,d of storm troopered the entire dog pack and still been beside my self?? he just calmy says "there dead" ??? makes me wonder.
If there is a wild dog pack running then there is a simple answer I was raised on a farm and know how it would be handled.

I see how some on this Board have shown their "screwed-up" values. There is no justifying this horrible death of two people by dogs -- regardless of HOW the son behaved/looked !! These were elderly people -- the woman was taking a walk and was attacked; her husband went to look for her and found her and then he was attacked. I don't care how she wandered into a pack of dogs, how her husband then wandered into the pack of dogs, nor how the Son "Acted". Tjhey were killed by the dogs -- PERIOD !!

The sons lack of emotion bothered me a little too.
I hear now that the Micheal Jackson case has been deemed a homicide as more things have been considered.
Perhaps this story has a twist as well, ya never know the way things go these days.
I have to say that the dogs packs that were giving me fits at one time were made up of peoples individual pets more often than wild feral dogs. You seldom see anything thats been wild so long and lived to be considered feral.
Yes its very sad, if it were my parents I don't think I could hold back my emotions and I'm sure I would have been involved in some sort of action. I would definitely want to see the animals examined for evidence.
Oh well, Its just another story to me, I remember another recent story about an elderly woman mauled to death by two dogs. It somehow gets lost in the fires and floods and car accidents, not to mention the murders.
Thats sad too, to become numb to the loss of life around us, but its the way most people are.
At least until something like this hits you where you live, someone you know.
I can't blame the dogs as much as I can find blame in the people who keep them in this manner.
But in reality more humans die at the hands of other humans than any sort of animal wild or domestic.
Didn't mean to lessen the loss of these two people, but there are so many tragedies everyday that it does make you numb to it all.

Maggie,
No one is disputing the fact that it's horrible that these two folks died! It is a sick tragedy that anyone dies, regardless of the cause. Just the same, being killed by dogs is no worse than being shot by a robber, overdosed on drugs by a pimp, hit by a car, or anything else.
That no one is screaming isn't an indication of how screwed up the values of members of this board are. It's a tragedy, for sure, but if that neighbor who fed the dogs had pegged them for the threat they must have demonstrated, and had done something about it, like shooting them, or having them picked up, those folks might not have died. You want to be angry, be angry at him. Be angry at the people who had dogs that allowed them to go feral in the first place.
But it's not a very nice thing to do to point fingers and scream when you don't know the whole story. News, as we all know, is sensationalized, and so what really happened, we don't know, and none of the stories really tell the whole thing. It's just about ratings, like everything else.
But if that neighbor had shot the dogs, and they hadn't killed anyone, then you'd have people screaming about cruelty. If they were shot after having killed, then someone would be screaming about that, too.
I guess it's true that you can't please everyone. But if there was a pack of wild dogs running around my neighborhood, they'd be dead, like I said before. Desperation drives people and animals alike to actions they might not take otherwise.

If it bleeds, it leads.............
I am adding the link to a very useful article on dangerous breeds that I put on another thread a year or more ago. It has some interesting information. Enjoy

I feel for the couple that was killed and their family. How terrible. The dogs' need to be traced to the irresponsible individual(s). Too bad there isn't a way.
