There's no indication that Hasso had Parkinson's - if he had, one would think it would have been mentioned. It actually never occurred to me that he would have "electrodes hooked into him" or even be in a cage necessarily - but even the thought of him going to a research center and being poked with a needle or whatever seemed way out of line for a dog which should have been out having fun after serving his country under very dangerous conditions. I personally wouldn't have volunteered him, and I think these people were wrong to do so. Run free at the Bridge Hasso, you have so deserved it.

The first 5 or 6 pictures on this site are of Hasso.   It looks to me like this dog had a great life, and spread a lot of joy amongst  retired vets.    I don't know the particulars of the dogs death, but I would not assume the dog was tortured in any way.  It's my understanding participation requires a simple blood draw, which is no more tramatic for a working GSD than it is for a human.  The phrase "water off a duck's back" comes to mind.  In fact the last conclusion I would be willing to jump to would be this dog was somehow abused.

If I were to say anything to the folks that adopted him after his military career it would be THANK YOU for taking such good care of him, loving him,  allowing this working dog to continue to work, (which is what a well bred working dog loves to do), up to the end of his life.

RIP Hasso, you sure as hell earned it.
