I beg to differ with you about it getting boring if it was all about talking dog....

My dogs are a big part of my life, I love bringing any dog related topics up daily in my conversations with people, and some people could care less about talking canine, so to be able to come on this board & see pedigrees, pictures of actually GSD's living or dead, is terrific, as for the posters that post crap on the forum, just weed through it, I get calls every other day from people that want to scam me, doesn't mean I'm going to listen to them, sometimes it's just up to us to weed through the crap..........what can you expect from the worldwide internet...............control...............

Ninja181, that's a strange looking dog you have in your avitar

Thank you Oli for a great outlet for dog lovers!!

I  agree with everyones comments, that they were all contributing factors. Like I stated before I love the picture feature.

The off topic pictures are interesting because this is an international forum and I enjoy seeing pictures from different parts of the USA and the world. I just think the political crap, religious posts etc have gotten out of hand. 4pack mentioned the elections last year and I think that probably was a factor because for what seemed like over a year whenever you turned on the news in the USA that's all they talked about. You couldn't escape the election BS.

I just hope the board starts to go back to more dog related posts, because the present venue has driven many of the extremely knowledgeable posters away. Like Jackie Harris said the "inmates are running the asylum".

PS: Abhay

I think you're right about me taking my dog to see the New England Patriots Cheerleaders causing the problem, he now  suffers from a severe case of clevage addiction. Here is a link to the thread and pictures of Pango and the Patriots cheerleaders if anyone wants to see the pictures.

Paula, my avatar picture is probably more in line with my expression for the present state of this board. LOL

yellowrose:

The post you find ofensive started out as a question by someone a legitamite question that developed it,s own life. If you find it offensive I do appoligize and I have contacted several of the posters and asked to not post to it any longer. Yellow I grew up in a family and with friends that have long histories of practical jokes that come here because i,ve told them about this thread and find it halierous but I do understand to some it could be found offensive so for that I appoligize. I,ve found that if i find something in bad taste or offensive I don,t look, read or bother with it any longer (maybe you should try that) I don,t need other peoples perceptions telling me what is right or wrong, but as  stated you have the right to your opinion and I,m glad you shared your thoughts.

I will attempt to contact the originator of the thread and Oli to get it closed since it has turned offensive (in your opinion) But I have found it at worst slightly amuzing and at the best greatly amuzing. I,ve got big shoulders so I can take alot of ribbing so I find no offense.

I will let you know I,ve been contacted by many members of this forum who find it highly amuzing and to date no contacts of offense but had I I would of tried to curb it,s content. again it,s all perception.

Since we are talking about perception what you posted on your earlier post of the presious child in a wagon (in my opinion) is perfectlyacceptible is by federal and most local law child pornagraphy and the distribution and possesion of such is a felony. so again perception is key.

Yours forever Bob McKown (in case you don,t know who I am by now) hahahha

------------------------

I would rather read the "political crap" (as you call it) any day over the "3-ring circus" that continues on this Forum -- People posting Personal Problems and getting HUNDREDS of replies; People accusing each other of Drug Use, Porn, etc.; People posting very derogatory remarks about other Kennels/Dogs/Training.   Now a "Big Drama" is going on over at the German Shepherd section.   At least the political posts are keeping people informed about what is going on in our World -- although there is some "bickering"  on the OT political posts, it is nothing in comparison to the Personal vendetta posts.

Yellow Rose I am not bothered in the least by the pictures you mentioned, I think they are funny BUT I would be more than willing to never see another funny picture on this board if we could just follow Oli's instructions as to the purpose of the General DOG section.  That means NO religious threads, NO political threads, NO OT threads at all, JUST threads directly related to dogs.   If people find these threads boring then maybe they need to go find a board that caters to their interests instead of selfishly trying to turn Oli's board into something he didn't ask for.

Sue, blaming the Gov't was my sick twisted joke. However I really feel the board took a huge dive at that time. I also agree it picked up a HUGE amount of new posters before that with the google adds and all of that/ I remember posting, where did all of these "pet" people come from? The threads became more about "look at my cute puppies and how do I get my dog to stop jumping on my baby?" than questions about trials/shows/breeding for serious stock. That in itself threw me, there are enough "pet boards" for  these types of things, then the canidates came out and that's all anybody talked about.

OK Sue -- fair enough.  However, you do put in your 2 cents' worth on all the Personal Threads, Political Threads, Kennel Business Feud Threads, and "Domestic Fighting" Threads.   I also find it odd that many people that complain about the OT's typically post to the General Section but infrequently post to the GSD section; why is that?   I am seriously asking -why ???

Becasue thsoe of us  that have been here for awhile have already ready and answered some of these questions numerous times and it gets frustraiting and old. We let somebody else answer, maybe check on it again and then answer if someone else doesn't step up or give a correct answer, when some nut sugeests something really stupid/dangerous.

I know 4Pack, I know, and I remember you did predict it, my friend.

This is an INTERNATIONAL DOG BOARD.  This is NOT an American Politics board.  Oli created the general section so that topics that apply to all breeds and all people of the world who own them could be seen in each breed section.  He did NOT create it so that a bunch of right wing nuts could start thread after thread polluting this once valuable resource with their Am Pol crap for their own selfish reasons.

I have already said I do not find the pictures offensive but I imagine I am not the lone ranger in being willing to compromise if once and for all you guys can stop with the political and religious bullshit threads and just talk about dogs or nothing at all.

As for you Maggs, I suggest you take a look at yourself before worrying about me.  I am sure if you ask you will find plenty of people who will tell you I in fact do contribute to this board when it comes to dogs.  Can the same be said for you?  You have said more than once you find the dog related threads to be boring.  So what are you doing on the dog board if you think the dog threads are boring?  The simple fact of the matter is this is a dog board not a political board.

You never answer the question, do you Sue.

I do not recall saying "more than once" (as you put it) that the dog threads are boring.   I do remember saying something very similar to what 4pack said (above)  -- that the same questions have been answered numerous times and that people seeking answers to a problem can type in their question, hit search, and all the topics related to their question will appear.

Apparently, some people like the "high drama Personal threads" -- they keep responding to them -- and "then complain" and then respond again, and again...........
