I too have had to intervene in a dog fight, NEVER NICE, but I really don't think drop kicking a little rat dog is the way to go there. My yorkies fight, grab a back leg of the first leg you can get, a hoist them up.
Don't work for the big ones but surely a little dog can be dealt with in ways other than a DROP KICK!!!!JMO

YESTERDAY I CAUGHT MY NEW GIRLFRIEND SEXTING THIS GUY ON HER CELL PHONE.  I GOT SO JEALOUS I TRIED TO GET HER PHONE AND BREAK IT. SHE SAYS IM TOO JEALOUS OF THIS GUY. MAYBE SO. THIS GUY IS THE KIND YOU LOVE TO HATE. HE HAS IT ALL.  FIRST OFF THIS GUY WORKS AS A DELIVERY MAN FOR DOMINOS. YES HE MAKES THE BIG BUCKS. THEN HE HAS THIS MUSCULAR FRAME FROM LIFTING ALL THE PIZZAS. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO COMPETE WITH THAT?  SHE ALWAYS STARES AT HIM AND HE ALWAYS STARES BACK. THIS SHIT HAPPENS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.  LAST NIGHT I CAUGHT HER TAKING A CELL PHONE PIC IN HER PANTIES IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR. IF SHE SENT THAT PIC TO THIS GUY I MIGHT DO SOMETHING CRAZY. IM SO JEALOUS I COULD JUST GO ON A EATING JAG.

YES I HAVE PICKED UP SOME GOOD TECHNIQUES HERE. FIRST I PLAN ON CLUBBING HIM WITH A SHOVEL. THEN I WILL GIVE HIM THE RUNCO DROP KICK.

BTW, the young female is a Decker Rat Terrier, and will be about 30 lbs. when mature. She's about 20 lbs. now. So, we're not talking some powderpuff miniature yap dog the size of a housecat...

I had to break up a three dog fight once with a two by four, about eight feet long. Those dogs were really mixing it up! Every time a dog would get on top of the others, KA-POWWW, I'd let him have it over the top of his skull. He'd be weak in the knees, and another dog would take the opportunity to jump on top, then KA-POWWW, he'd get it. Finally the third dog would be on top, and he'd get Ka-Bonged, too! We did two complete rounds like this. Every dog got it on top of the head two times, and then, as if someone had flipped a light switch, they all broke off and ran for opposite corners of the yard, and wouldn't come near each other, all day!

I was deathly afraid my mom was going to try to reach in there to grab a collar, and she'd gotten bitten a few times doing this, but that was with two dog fights.. This was three dogs, and a three dog fight can be very dangerous.. fatal or really disfiguring, because whichever dog goes down first usually gets trashed! I just did what I could, with what I had, but it really worked! And, screw the dogs, if it came right down to it. I didn't want my mom being maimed and disfigured.

Lumber, hard upside the head, will do the trick, but definitely a last resort. It's not training.. It's crisis control!
