SitasMom, unless your other screenname here is mirasmom, my post was not directed at you! Just scroll up and read!

And Yellowrose, I would not bet against that: There have been comments on the German discussion boards that breeders get lots and lots of requests for long stockcoated puppies already.

Whatever The bringing in of Long coats entails, Young Goran will never become a Daddy unless he makes the grade in my chosen sport for him and he will have to be very good indeed, His Pedigree is first class and his Joints are A1
but to me he will have to be exceptional at the Sport of Schutzund, and prove worth and his mental  attributes are sound and solid before i would even consider breeding with him and even if he was a normal coated dog he would still have to be the above and more besides to be breeding material for me

Any word on how long it will take for the LC program to be adopted into the US? Is USSCA or WDA looking to follow suit?  I love coats, myself, but have never had an interest in keeping one as I, too, follow SV standards, but I would not be opposed to it once there is a good following in this country and a number of good quality, titled studs to choose from. I am equally pleased to see one less excuse for breeders not to prove their dogs before breeding them!

The long coat will be reintegrated as a variety! The word "reintegrating" has been used by the SV as an announcement that these dogs will no longer be banned from breeding.
Currently, it is a fault as per FCI standard. The SV issues automatic breed book bans on coats, as soon as a puppy is declared to be one on the litter application form. That is the reason that you will hardly ever find a dog declared as a coat on the pink papers. Breeders know better! Only uninformed ones do that!
There are other dog breeds with varieties - Collies for example! I don't know if the rough ones are shown against the smooth ones, but the SV does not want them to mingle and I can see their reasoning behind that idea! Breeding a longcoat to a longcoat will produce 100% longcoats.
The shows won't be seperate, just the classes. If the breed surveys will be at different times and locations remains to be seen. It all depends on individual regions I guess. Maximum amount of dogs for a BS is 50 a day.

Kelly,
if I am not mistaken Danny Spreitler will address this issue soon, it might be on the agendas. He had started a thread on our GSDWorld.net board but it is down right now, so I can't check it, sigh. Have to call tech support if it takes too much longer. Anyway, neither USA nor WDA will be able to do anything until they get clear instructions from the SV. And the SV will wait on that, until their application to change the World Breed Standard is approved by the FCI - a mere matter of paperwork, but bureaucracy takes its time.
