I agree but the fact still remains !! dept policy was shoot first ask questions later! My experience has taught me that the police train their officers to visibly project their authority irreguardless of common sense! Had the officer been trained in such a manner that he would have used other non violent means he would have! But for the police it is much easier to shoot the dog than explore other avenues!

That little Dachshund was nothing more than a threat to his pants leg!  What a douche.  I wonder if more people would put "Attack Dog on Premises" signs on their fences and yards, even for toy poodles, would this help prevent the unnecessary deaths of pet dogs?  Can you imagine what would happen if a PO went into some of the backyards of members of this forum, who have a half dozen or more protection-trained GSD's? It'd be a massacre, and I'm not necessarily talking about the dogs!  All because some retard PO wanted to feel like a big man and face off with some kick ass dawgs.

Shooting a Dachshund.  Seriously?  At least the department seems to have a sense of shame and fired his ass.  The public backlash would be too much for them to handle.
