Here we follow the SV rules re hips ie they are certified at one year, not 2 years. Females can be bred at 18 months, males at 18 months if they have kkl1, otherwise 2 years. Most people here breed their females early and I have to admit I have not seen any health, developmental or behavioural problems with females bred at 18 months. 10 months is ridiculous though, she is just a puppy still and obviously has not fininshed her own development.

Sorry, guess I didn't word my question properly. I was mostly wondering about the disparity between Germany and here in the States. I do agree the AKc minimum of 9 months is way too young.

forevergsd,
the age of 18 months in Germany is incorrect!!!
The SV regulates that the earliest a female can be bred is at 20 months of age- which means that she would be 22 months old when whelping. A male can be bred at the earliest in the month he turns 24 months old.

i am not upset with you just don't seem to get thru to you...only need to be told once...silbersee is a one fine germany breeder...notice she didnt contradict what I said...she just corrected some info.....no one is mad   just cannot understand the daily reading, monthly and  yearly we post time and time again...do not breed before age 24 mos....Breeding should not be a HOBBY>>>> it is dead serious ....your Bitch has a womb, has a cervix has intestines, and gall bladder, kidneys and has digestion system along with nerves....if all these body parts as a teenager at the age before 24 months, is torn up and depleated to carry 5- 10 pups,,,do you not see the toll it plays on the health of that bitch...no you may not see it physically but I sure do read thousands of threads here with health problems that seem to come out of   NOWHERE>>>WHY   because of the breeding practices here and in Germany, Belgium, Serbia   etc...not holding just Americans at fault....
NOW I will let someone else get on the soap box.....bear with us   forevergsd,,,you will learn.......What is the dog gone hurry to breed.... ???? OH I REMEMBER<<<<<< M O N E Y ..
