Good one, Uglydog...I prefer to think of myself still as free, since I refuse to follow the path to dependence...So I'll be celebrating Independence Day!

Thanks, all of you.  Oakley is a very special dog to me, and yes, she's growing so fast!  She's at least an inch taller at the withers than she was when I brought her home.  Her appetite is good, eating about 3.5 cups of puppy food per day...

Her coat is getting really shiny now, and she's just so good! I'm lucky to have her.

None are so enslaved as those that think they are Free...

Try driving your car with no license plates without ID or carrying a handgun on your person to a store.
Tell me how free you are then.

 

Constitutional Rights mind you.

I know all about that, Uglydog...To do this fireworks display, we have to have not only auto insurance, tags, and driver's license, but also an ATF issued explosives user permit (which we have to have for our business anyway), and a $2,200 one day insurance policy, as well as permits from the city council, and the city fire department.

I see what is going on...Even though I wish to hell I didn't.  Just the same, the ones most enslaved are the ones who refuse to see...As a Russian once told my Dad, "The only difference between my people and yours is mine know that they are slaves, yours have yet to find out."

So I'll enjoy the fourth and my beautiful little (okay, not so little) Oakley,  I'll remember the words of a famous man..."Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?  Forbid it, Almighty God!!  I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"

I am blessed because I am able to see the world as it is, not as some might wish it to be.  Even so, I find that there is beauty in the simple things: puppies playing on freshly mown grass, kids playing in a sprinkler, weeding in the garden.  I will remember this, and prepare myself and my family for whatever is to come.  God will be with us, and I will have faith in that, along with the intelligence I have been given.

Ahhh, always good to see pics of Oakley!  I think about her everyday.  Hate to hear you are going back to dial up.  That blows.  I so enjoy finding your posts.

That is one lucky puppy!  And she looks so happy, too.  I am really interested in continuing to hear about her abilities on an ongoing basis - even if the photos might be difficult because of dial-up - please keep posting about her without the pictures if necessary - I'm completely fascinated!. :)

I will continue to update on Oakley...A very kind poster here...Will post his username if it's okay with him...has graciously offered to post pics for me if I cannot get them to load after I go back to dial up...

It's weird how they will email, but it's hard to get them to load to a thread here..but I've never had really great luck...I'll take them in very low megapixels and see if I can get them to load, but if not, the gentleman that I mentioned above will kindly help.

I was away from town for about three and a half hours last night with the fireworks display we did.  I had crated Oakley while I was gone, just for her safety, but she isn't fazed by loud noises, it seems, at all.  She was perfectly relaxed when I got home, other than happy to hear me coming in, and wasn't nervous or scared at all.  What a good dog!

On the other hand, I found something she is afraid of.  When she caught a whiff of my neighbor's cat, she ran as fast as she could, the other way, barking and howling as loud as anything I've ever heard from her...I'd guess she had a bad experience with a cat, maybe when she was with her litter, or the people who bought her from her breeder.  Regardless, she has no interest in investigating or attacking the cat.  She just wants to get the hell away from it, as quick as she can.

That said, she's growing so fast...She's got a nice shiny coat now.  Still can't get any real weight on her, but she's nice and healthy, so I'm not going to worry about the weight.

Had her looked at yesterday by my husband's uncle, who is a veterinarian, and he said she's nice and healthy, that she has a great personality, and that she's a great dog, especially compared with a few of the GSD's he's seen.  He said she looks good. 

I have a couple of new pics from yesterday, but my camera's still out in the truck...with all the fireworks video on it, too.  Oakley had the above ears when I went to bed the night before last, but as of the morning of the fourth, has 'teepee' ears...Wonder what it'll be tomorrow!

I'll post those pics tomorrow, while I still have my wireless aircard.  It's good that my hubby's going to be away working, because we need the money, but darn, I'm going to miss that high-speed internet!
