What does AD stand for in the dog's titles? That's a new one for me!
"The dog may have been bred in the USA and have an AKC/American Showline kennel type name - but it looks West German Highlines bred to me."
Excuse me, but where's the curved/roach/banana back? The tomato red colouring? That dog's back is a straight as a ruler!
Here's one of the top dogs in Canada right now, F.V. Ch. Brownhill-Kysarah's Maricio. Even HE has more of a curve to his back than Navigator! Interestingly enough, he, too, has Kismet's Heartthrob in his pedigree!

I'm starting to really like the look of some of the dogs I see being titled in the American and Canadian show ring. Now, if ONLY they would PROVE THESE DOGS CAN WORK, by getting some working titles on them!!

A very beautiful dog and a positive direction for the Am. S/L dog.
However, the titles this dog has are not awarded by the SV. The judges are SV judges, but the awards are earned under either UScA or WDA. These are the working GSD organizations in the U.S. with very different standards and requirements than the SV.
Not meant as a knock on the dog at all.

The AD is a 12 mile endurance test necessary for the breed survey. It is generally not mentioned as a true title in promoting a dog or its progeny.

WDA or USA the likely reality is this dog's V has more to do with his owner and her prominent connections than anything else. I suggest that if you or I brought that same dog with that pedigree we would be hard put to get a SG on him no matter how good structurally he is. You see that kind of prejudice against working dogs and their pedigrees all the time ( as you should know Shelley) and I truly think a half breed would be at an even greater disadvantage. IF not and a well bred/structured working dog would in reality be at a greater disadvantage than this dog soley because of less hindquarter angulation - what can be said!
That being so, kudos to Helen for all that she does with her dogs and kudos for being willing to risk the infusion of new blood on both sides of the pedigree - now let's risk by pulling in some working dogs.

The HD ratings are typical of American lines though

Unbelievable, VKFGSD. An entire bashing post, posted twice no less, and then:
"That being so, kudos to Helen for all that she does with her dogs and kudos for being willing to risk the infusion of new blood on both sides of the pedigree - now let's risk by pulling in some working dogs."
These ARE working dogs. They have Schutzhund titles AND Herding titles AND Utility Dog Titles (so advanced Obedience titles) AND Tracking titles AND Therapy Dog certifications. So they ARE working. And working a lot more in the do-it-all Max von Stephanitz way than just getting a SchH title. They GOT the SchH titles and then went above and beyond them.

He still looks like he could walk on his hocks to me, personally I like less angulation in the back, however, you've got to hand it to her, she certainly does work her dogs.

The predudice against working lines in the show rings is less than it used to be, overall, IMO.
