the top line is way too perfect as if it were a solid object and not covered with hair..........

Looks like it, but only minor effects...notice the grass surrounding the topline, from the snout to the tail, it looks "blurred"

Photobucket

In this enlargement you can clearly see clone tool artifacts forming a line roughly parallel to the top line which indicate the topline has been altered to smooth the croup.

When magnified you can also see that solid black has been painted on to the coat.

I'm not publicly judging the person or the dog. Just answering the OP's question.

You can also get some of these over exposed photographs back to a semi normal state. As has been state it has definitely been post processed in photoshop, apart from the top line being to sharp, the whites and red are way to over exposed.

I managed to get the photo to a more realistic stae than before.

It doesn't look like it was done to alter the dogs appearance, as someone else already said, probably just erasing distracting background. I photoshopped myself out of Beckett's stacked photo, there was just too much of me, if you know what I mean, LOL! And if a hand or leash was on the dog, maybe they removed that. I have a problem with colors being altered, although that happens sometimes just in the process of taking the picture. For some reason some dogs, particularly some sables, never seem to be true to their actual color in their pictures. And altering to enhance conformation? That would be wrong, but I don't think that's the case here. jh

Changing the dog's topline and coloring the coat are most certainly altering the dog's appearance.
