Okie Amazon

Red Loreds aren't typically known as great talkers, but mine is very good. His daddy was a hand-fed (by me) baby as well. He sings and makes up his own songs with the things he knows, putting them together different ways-
Oh! Oh! Oooooooh! Kittykittykitty, c'mon, c'mere. Dammit dogs! Whatcha doin chili bird silly bird? Many different whistles - his daddy knew the Alfred Hitchcock and Andy Griffith themes, so Chili takes pieces of those and mixes them up. If you rattle your car keys or put on a jacket it's, See ya Later!"

I have 3 Double Yellowhead Amazons. Got the first one in 1975. The GSDs, parrots and cats all get along. The DYHs are feisty creatures. My BIS DYH can clear a room of dogs and cats so he has it all to himself. Still, I don't leave them all together unsupervised. Yes, one of the birds talks.

I have a 13 year old Goffin Cockatoo.
A 10 year old Mealy Amazon.
A 9 year old Greenwing Macaw.

My GSDs also get along fine with my birds.  I've a new pup learning about them.

This is my macaw Chaos checking out the newest member of my 'dog pack'.

My old tuxedo kitty Sid would jump over Tabasco when he was out walking around to make him squawk, but he was VERY careful not to come down within beak reach.  He did that once and nearly became a Manx!

Tabasco really hated dogs, so he could not be out after he attacked my poor little Shar Pei, China. He landed right behind her head and went to work on her. She was screaming and squeeling and I had a helluva time getting him off her. Of course he bit the snot out of me in the process.

When we first brought Ivo home, he was already about ten months old. The first time he walked past a cage and heard the birds talk, he did a major double-take then triple-take! He still regards them as being possibly from outer space.

Mine also talk, my macaw most of all.  Chaos will bark and howl.  He'll call the dogs by name, tell them to shut-up, and go to bed.  He's now learing to yip and cry like a crated pup.    Not a good noise for a macaw to make!

I have some birds - many Gouldians as well as societies and zebra finches, and a few obnoxious Parottlets, and three canaries, two fife and one red-factored.  And Kito, an African brown-headed Parrot who doesn't talk, but mimics sounds really well.  I also had a green-cheek Conure who I really liked - would like to find another one that's hand-tame at some point.

gsd are the best animal companions there are.
