If the neighbor has had dogs: GENERALIST of the dog world.

Very loyal dogs, but definitely need proper training. And know what kind of dog you are looking to get as there are definitely different types.

Correct ,character and temperamant of the gsd. one intends to get. Be it a puppy or adult.Go to shows , confirmation and working, see the different types within the breed and learn about the good and bad points.

They are the smartest breed of dog I've ever owned, loyal, protective, want to work for you and please you. This makes up for all the hair they shed and HUGE piles they leave for you to pick up. :o) I only have 3 but would love more. I hope to buy property so I can have more, they need lots of room to run and/or a pool to swim. Mine swim to make up for my small yard and of course they train weekly where they can run after training. :o)

They need lots of structured physical and mental exercise. Leaving the dog to run around in the backyard with a tire to chew on doesn't count.
