I personally am trying to learn how to stack my two dogs and go give them practice at being stacked.......I am looking for a template of sorts. The last time I stacked and photoed my pup you guys told me the the stacking made him look deformed! They know to stand still when I tell them to and to keep thier feet when I put them............now I need to know where to put their feet.........

I'd much rather do SchH. but I'd like to get Hero a show title too if possible.

If your dog is calm enough, confident enough, and willing enough to let you place their feet on those tiny blocks, you shouldn't need them. Sitasmom, is there a SchH club nearby that caters to ring training also? It's your best bet.

If you are trying to learn how to correctly stack your dog fast so that it becomes muscle memory I would suggest getting a rubber mat that is long/wide enough to stack your dog on, have an experienced person stack your dog correctly, mark an X where the feet are on the mat so that when you are alone you place the feet over the "x's".

Do it in front of a mirror so that you see what your dog looks like as you stack them.  If you practice enough you eventually get to the point where it becomes second nature as to where you place the feet on any given dog to make it look appropriate.

schh club - yes, ring training - no

it seems that in texas and least this part of texas the trials do not have breed surveys attached.

not even the regionals in Hutto.

I will bring a rubber mat to conformation practice and ask me teacher to help me put "x"s at the appropriate places......she may or may not, she doesn't really like Hero, he's german she's used to american.

If she doesn't prefer german dogs,  she probably won't be able to stack him accordingly.

back to square one.........

I'll have to find someone else to help then.

Do both : )  I showed my working line bitch over easter weekend and I think I broke about every "un-written" show rule you can think of and we walked away with an SG & our primary focus is SchH.  Is there someone who can help you?

by SitasMom on 27 April 2009 - 02:04

I hope there will be a trial and breed survey trials within 300 miles of Houston one of these days. I keep checking and to no avail.

Anyway, I will do my best a stacking Hero an to get him to look non-deformed...........

Maybe people in my SchH club will be able to help........hope so!

Someone used at a conformation handling class I attened. Personally, I thought it was pretty dumb. Take a class with your dog tolearn how to stack, and if you cant learn, get a handler! JMO......
