I am guilty of buying two dogs from pet stores .One Pomeranian and one Yorkshire terrier  .That was around 14 years ago . My yorky is still alive and well the pom died few years ago . Funny thing I don't even like poms .I felt sorry for the pom as It was at the pet store for six months or more ,I told the pet store owner if the pom didn't sell by Xmas call me if they would take half price for it I would buy it .They called me Xmas eve ,said they would take half price if I got their before 6 o'clock that night . so we drove 45 miles in a snow storm . I got the pup and gave it away to a forever home . I still have my yorky old as she is getting . Lesson learned       never look at the puppys in the window ,the ones with the waggely tails .I paid over 1000 dollars for that yorky all those years ago . Heart over head . She was worth it though she has been healthy and happy her whole life .

I've never bought a puppy from a pet store, but I have rescued a  few parrots. One Alexandrine Parakeet, one Indian Ringneck and a Blue-crowned Conure.  Luckily they were all healthy, although the AP did have a titer to psittacosis when I first got her. She cleared after a few weeks of quarantine.

This is one issue I have to be apart of.I have so many issues with it on so many levels.

1. RESCUE is not buying a animal from a breeder or pet store and then saying they were healthy.Rescue is saving a animal from danger.

2.Each time I hear about someone buying from a pet store its"Oh I couldnt leave him there he was so sick" or other things like that. Why not just say >I liked the animal and bought it.Why because people will jump on you for spending your own money to buy a animal you want because it came from a PS.

3.while everyone fights about the wrong side of the track "puppy millers"our rights are being taken right along with them.

Those bills dont say"All breeders but for the great GSDS breeders"

Hi All,

My wife and I breed German Shepherd dogs in Montana. website www.blackdogmontana.com

Yes, I am disguisted with puppy mills. We know people around us with another breed that has 3 females, 1 male and that male breds to a host of other females of that breed locally.

Last year the owner of the three females went away and left the three females in kennels without water. Enough said. My wife and I breed only occassionally and when we feel we have a superb pair. We go through the time and expense to investigate before we buy and would never breed unless the sire and dam are
excellant" We don't breed for the greed. We breed so that true believers of what we believe in will hopefully find the happiness and love od a new family member.

Our female and male are breed for the second time. Last ear and this year. Our female will give birth in hopefully 5 days.

We aren't going to breed her until 2010 and either that will be her final or 2011. She's a family member and we love her.

Please don't get us started on Pet stores either. We were in the Missoula Mall and there's a "pet" store with the caged pups, on wire frame floor.

Our pups are socialized from day one and are part of our family.

Sincerely

Rick Paris
